Dressing for Christmas - the Velvet edition

Oh the utter joy of both Christmas and velvet! My velvet obsession from winter last year has re-emerged now that the festive season is upon us! You can see above that I was a bit excited about it. Some of the dresses above have been sold on, others have stayed put in my wardrobe and I've added a couple of new ones. I thought I'd share some of my favourite velour dresses available this year!
This is a DELICIOUS blue version of the red Bonmarche dress I'm wearing above, and trust me, it's a keeper (unlike the unnecessary necklace that comes with it!).

Another Bonmarche number that is almost the same as my red dress, but with a scoop neckline and a deco detail on the waist. It's a beaut!

I've not had a great run with Pink Clove, but now you can buy via Asos (free delivery, free returns and decent customer service!) I'm more willing to try them again. I REALLY like this dress. It's very cool. I want it quite badly!

Another pink clove dress, but very different in style. I like the bright red and full-on girlyness of this!

This Lindy bop dress is SERIOUSLY testing my resolve. I had this in my basket before I got a grip on myself and remembered that I have 8 million dresses! This is totally delicious!

I'm not entirely sure what it is about this M&S dress that I like, but I really do like it. I like the colour, and the cut and the sort of... I don't know, historic costume feel of the bodice. I sound insane, but that's what it brings to mind!

M&S have really gone for it with the old velvet this year. Sadly most of the good pieces don't go above a 20, but there are a couple of nice pieces in a stretch 22 (which I guess would fit a size 24 too). I adore crushed velvet. I like a bit of ruching. Therefore I like this dress!

I'm finishing up with something you don't see everyday, which is a printed velvet dress. Simply be have pulled this little cutie out of the bag, and I'm a little bit in love with it!

You guys know I love a good maxi dress, and this Kiyonna purple one is just so opulent! Historically velvet was a fabric worn by the Nobility and I remember reading years ago that purple was the colour the royals wore because the dye was made with sea snails and was very expensive (seriously, it's fascinating!) and so Purple velvet feels totally majestic to me! I would waltz around like a queen in this dress..... 'wrapped in luxury' is the right name for this beauty!

Come back soon for my next Christmas dress post - the one with my other (new) obsession - black embellished dresses!
