Wardrobe weekly

 It's been a joyously short week thanks to my two days off (to recover from my holiday and prepare for the horrors of getting up early and commuting to work again!). We got home on Saturday night at 2am then slept in on Sunday.... lovely!

Sunday

Sunday was such a beautiful day that it made being back home much more bearable. Obviously we had to go out in it so we went to the martket and the park, then to our friends for a BBQ!

Eat all the food? CHECK!

 Lightweight dress and summer hat was necessary (I still had sore skin from my sun-cream reaction so I protected my face with this!)

 I was still reminiscing about the holiday on Monday so I sat outside in the sun and did a crossword.... not quite as fun without my other half but warm and lovely!

Tuesday

I properly cried when I heard Rik Mayall was dead. I feel sad when famous people I like die (I'm not a robot!) but I don't normally weep. Rik is a whole different matter though. One of my first crushes and one of my all-time comedy heroes. I've been watching all my Rik favourites whenever I get a chance. If I still had a VHS I'd be watching the Dangerous Brothers too! RIP to one of the funniest men ever to grace our screens.... 56 is no age to die :(

Wednesday

So, first day back at work and I knew it was going to involve lunch in outside at a mini food market and zumba after work so I went for my trapeze dress and wore my zumba leggings underneath as chub-rub protection! I've been going almost entirely make-up free since I got a bit of a tan (just a bit of under-eye cover), it's been freeing!

Before my holiday I ordered some stuff from Silvershake (my favourite place to get proper jewellery from!) and my box of goodies were waiting for me on my desk when I got in to work. I got the ballerina earrings I showed you in my last wish-list post, and lots of rings in different sizes to wear all over my fingers.

I've got some of the rose gold rings on here (I LOVE ROSE GOLD!) and I'll show you the silver ones when I wear them. Such bargains, so very lovely.... they call them wedding bands but they're like £3 each so I'm not wearing them as wedding bands, obviously! Go to the site, type in 'ring' and arrange them in price from low-high and you'll find some lovely simple stackable rings (I had to resist getting a set of black bands too!)

 On really hot days I think it's wise to wear the thinnest fabric possible, and double silk is ideal. I love my silk dresses in summer, they're totally non-sweaty!

Friday

 I have been WAITING SO LONG to wear this dress! I got this in a charity shop ages ago and I was so excited about it.... bold stripes and bright flowers?! SO PERFECT!

 After work I met my boyfriend on the South Bank for some mental Jazz from Polar Bear (more his thing than mine!) and then some street food followed by a cocktail in a nearby Jazzy bar.

 I wanted to look pretty so I thought this dress would be perfect for the heat and our evening. I saw a lady wearing the big Tatty Divine Dinosaur necklace while we were in the bar (I told her it was fabulous which made her smile!) and it reminded me how much I want something like that. I'm not spending £130 on a plastic necklace 'cause I don't have that kind of money right now, and I'm not really interested in getting a 100% knock-off version, but I'm on the look out for a something similar. I hope ebay will provide!

Saturday

 Saturday was a busy one and I totally forgot to take outfit pictures, but I wore my Forever 21+ leopard trousers and my Asos curve black wide-neck t-shirt. We both went to the huge Tesco in Streatham to get our eyes tested at their opticians (more on that coming up in a future post!), then we went for a swim in the new pool next door, then did a grocery shop. I made my first ever Kedgeree (thanks to Jamie Oliver and his 15 minute meals!)

Sunday

Barely got dressed today, but made gazpacho, a chocolate cake, Nigella's prawn cakes (with a tangy salad) and another 15 minute meal (Rosemary chicken with polenta). It's been a tasty weekend!

Wardrobe weekly

I am having an episode while I write this.... I just heard an alarming noise and realised that my big dress wardrobe was breaking. I hope very much that I will be able to save it because seriously, I can't find anything similar that will fit the space and I will have to get rid of a shit load of stuff if it can't be salvaged! Man, why does this have to happen just after we bought a new bed and the day bed for the spare room is on its way?! Worst timing EVER! Trying not to stress about it but my beau is at a gig tonight and he is normally the one to reassure me that it's not the end of the word. Deep breaths!

I completely ignored my outfit on Monday because it was the Anna Scholz sample day and I was thinking of nothing else! I had on my Ruby Rocks flamenco dancer print dress (also a sample I believe!)

 I had sort of forgotten this dress that I bought in the summer, it's a cute work dress, but my hair was behaving very badly and ruined my look I feel. I wanted to wear it up but my white sideburns prevented me doing so... never mind!

 I wore some cute Primark earrings too, they have some lovely Christmas jewellery!

On a rather different note I got some of the much lauded Neal's Yard Remedies lengthening mascara (£16) because I wanted something a bit more natural that wasn't going to damage my lashes if I wear it everyday......

 It smells lovely (sort of vanilla coconut oil smell) and has a nice brush, so I tried it out.....

 No mascara & no curling (my lashes are so stumpy and shite :()

 I'm not at all impressed with this mascara to be honest. The only good things about it is the smell and the fact that it doesn't irritate my eyes. It hardly sticks to my lashes at all. I tried so hard to get a layer of it onto the tips of my lashes, but to no avail! It doesn't really lengthen them. Applying two coats is almost impossible as the 2nd layer seems to dissolve the 1st layer. You'll have to trust me when I say that pretty much every other mascara I've ever had has been better at lengthening my lashes than this one. Shame. I'll probably use it now and again anyway just to give my eyes a break from the chemicals in my other mascaras (and because it cost £16 and I can't return it!) but it really isn't a good product and it is certainly not worth £16! Take my advice and get some max factor masterpiece mascara instead (the original one in the gold tube)!

I wore my old pastel orange jeans and navy bird print jumper.... while cleaning the flat the jeans tore right from the crotch until nearly the whole leg was hanging off. Another pair bites the dust. That is why there are no pictures!

Despite sewing up all the button holes (which were much too big of the buttons so it kept opening up everytime I moved), I've now had to sew the whole dress up after one of the buttons popped of when I was out yesterday. I love how this dress looks but my god it's flimsy!

Getting arty again!

 I got to go to another early morning viewing on Wednesday, at the fabulous Somerset house

 It was a double whammy as I got to see the elBulli exhibition that has been advertised everywhere (it was interesting although not particularly attractive!) but it was the not-so-widely-advertised exhibition that I was interested in......

..... Miles Aldridge! I love his photography, it's odd and beautiful at the same time (this is Jessica Brown Findlay from Downton Abby, looking fantastic!). If you like the image above then I highly recommend this exhibition.  

 This being a plus size 'fashion' blog an' all, I should tell you what I wore to this lovely breakfast viewing! Okay so the shoes came off as soon as I got back to work and my flipflops went on, but if I wasn't such a massive pussy when it comes to wearing heels then this was my intended look for the day!

 The joy of this Kaftan is that it can be sleeveless or elbow length with the help of a tiny button!
