Wardrobe Fortnight

Although I have been relatively busy, I have in the main been lazy, which is why I missed wardrobe weekly last week. Hey-ho, two for the price of one this time round!

Tuesday
I met my bestie for dinner and theater (Women on the verge of a nervous breakdown - the musical - I don't recommend it even though I adore Tamsin Greig!) so I wore my pretty new dress.
My girl was wearing the same asos dress but in a different print from the standard range!

Leggings 20 - South / Very
Boots - Primark

Wednseday
I've had this dress for a while, but it's proper vintage and is therefore thick and synthetic so I had to wait for cold-ass weather before I could wear it!
I like a good granny dress!

Thursday
Me? In a crop top? On a Thursday?!
I decided to layer up and I didn't want to be too boring with all this black on, so a bit of a crossword seemed like a good idea!
Black turtle neck - cut off an old dress!
Crop top - Very (customised)
Trousers 24 - Yours

Friday
 Casual Friday.....
 .... cold Friday more like!

Sunday
Out for a roast dinner with my beau!

Dress 24 - Lovedrobe
Leggings & Cardi 20 - Primark
Boots - Asos

Monday again
You may not know it from my expression, but any day that I'm wearing this dress is a good day!
This is one of the George Graduate collection pieces from when they actually went above a size 20. It's such a shame that they've gone backwards and don't do size 22 & 24 in their special collections :(

Tuesday again
Ooohhh lordy there be some frost on the ground!
Tuesday was day one of the 'I'm 33 now' celebrations, so I wore my newest dress!
I think the pattern on this, and the stretchy jersey, and the long sleeves. It's SO comfy. I do so love a long sleeved jersey dress!
It gave me a good excuse to wear my beloved swarovski meteor earrings that only come out on special occasions.
 Glittery crystals and minerals....
On a jagged rock. Had them for years, still love them!

Wednesday
BIRTHDAY TIME! I got a juicer and I love it! I tried smoothies for a while, but they give me terrible indigestion if I have them regularly (I guess my gut doesn't like excessive amounts of peel and pulp!) so I wanted to try juicing. So good - I can buy a shed load of fruit and veg from the market for less than the cost of a fresh juice from the shops. I made us a homemade version of Prets Green Goodness and it tasted identical.... but probably only cost us 50p each!
It was so cold on my birthday that it gave me a good excuse to wear my snow boots.
And I like this dress, so I wore it again - I think big chunky boots look best with short, full dresses or skinny trousers, so this was what I went for.
Cute embroidery!

Thursday
It's been ages since I wore a jumper over a shirt. I think it's because it reminds me of school, but you know what, I really liked this outfit.
I love my coated jeans from Dorothy perkins - They're very comfortable and are really generous for size 22.
I wore my bespoke Black Heart creatives earrings for the first time this week. they're ace.
 The boots are really old.
I always wanted some Ugg cardigan boots, but they were so expensive and seemed pretty impractical so I got some Bear Paw boots from TK Maxx instead - cardigan legs, suede shoes. the soles aren't as good quality-wise but they're mega snuggly and are big enough to stretch over my huge legs!

Friday
You know, I can't wait for the mornings to get lighter again, then I will be able to see when two colours match!
This was a comfy outfit that I didn't think much about. I just wanted to be warm!

Saturday
So I went out with my fella on Saturday and nothing that I had planned to do quite worked out, so I forgot to get any outfit pictures! These shitty snaps will have to do! I'm wearing my old wrap that I've had for maybe 4 years?! I knew they'd come back in to fashion.... they're classic!
We went to Bird in Hoxton and wow we were full afterwards! I've always wanted to try chicken and waffles - some proper soul food! The waffles are spongy and full of flavour and the chicken was really really tasty. the coating was very thin and very crispy.... I have no idea what the coating is made of, but it's not like a normal better, and it's not breaded. It's really really nice and not dripping with grease like some fried chicken I've had in the past. The fries are tiny and addictive crunchy and chewy. the fried pickles are nice but we didn't finish them because there was SO much food! My tip is to order the chicken and waffle burger then split it between two, because as you can see, it's basically two burgers!

Very new

I ordered a massive batch of stuff from Very this week, and I kept a few bits that I thought you might like to see!

First up, some holiday stuff - The beach kaftan & jumpsuit were both tiny, most of the swimsuits I tried were too short in the body for me but fine in terms of width, but I kept 2, both of which I really like......
I got this in a size 22 and it's spot on. It's got generous space in the boob department. The block colour doesn't give me anything to hide behind in terms of my lumpy bits, but I think I look super cute in this so I don't care about such things - this also comes in a ditsy-print (which I tried in a 20, but was going a bit see-through across my bum as it was a bit too small for me!) if you want more disguise!
I've never really had a proper, full on sexy swimming costume before, but this one (which I have in a 44DD cup) is proper padded and looks more like a lounging-by-the-pool cossie than a 'lets do laps' swimsuit!
This dress has quite bad reviews, but I assume that's because lots of people don't know what scuba is, or that it's clingy, tight and firm. I got this in a size 24 and it's exactly the size I was expecting - which is often NOT the case with dresses I've tried from very, which are occasionally massive, but more often tiny! This is not a midi, it sort of has a dipped hem and the black piping is only on the hem, not on the neck of sleeves as the picture shows, but it's a cool and unusual dress with lots of stretch that only cost £11. I liked it even though I didn't think I would!
I like this because its really comfy, the pattern is cool and the cut is unusual. £32 isn't bad for this dress, but if you like floral prints then you can get the floral version on sale here for only £14! For me though, this print is what drew me to the dress in the first place, so I'm cool to pay more for it. I got a size 24. The 22 would have been fine, but I like how comfortable I feel in this, and I don't think it needs to be bodycon to look cool!

Pie'n'mash NYE

Oh my god guys, this dress! This dress is like my goddam dream come true!
I saw so many good 'holographic' or shiny glittery dresses last year in the Asos Main range, and I was DYING for one in plus size. I had to have this when I saw it!
If there's is anything I've learnt from being an regular asos curve customer, it's that this style of dress is nearly always super tight on my arms and extremely un-generous in the boob department, so I ordered the size 24 and the size 26. I was not at all surprised to find my breasts being pushed backwards into my ribcage by the size 24 (which was also - as expected - a bit too tight on my arms!) so I kept the 26. Cut-wise it really reminds me of some of my vintage dresses - very structured, high neck, mid sleeves and with stiff shaping for the bust.
I think the waist is a sensible size so If you're not wide-backed or busty then you shouldn't have to size up. There's a zip at the back, but I just pull everything over my head! The fabric is not at all stretchy, it's quite thick and has a non stretch lining. It's pretty comfy though so I'm well chuffed with it!
I have had to accept that I don't like wearing beaded or sequinned dresses, but I can get down with this delicious glitter thread! It's quite rough, but not particularly itchy (which I thought it might be). The pattern is like amazing rose gold and pink roses with a pale mint green and black leopard print over the top. It's so freaking beautiful that I can't stop looking at it (it's hung outside my wardrobe so I can see it at all times!).
This is a snap without the flash so you can see the more natural sparkle!
In for a penny, in for a pound right?! I wore my massive vintage faux fur for even more animal print, and the bag my sis got me for Christmas.... just to really ram the holographic theme home!
It really wasn't cold enough to warrant this massive coat, but I wore it anyway 'cause I'm a fucking maverick!
Blending into the background as per! Next time I wear this dress I'm so gonna wear my little rose gold shoes with it! Can't wait, excited to rock this again!
I haven't worn eyemakeup since my works Christmas do so I decided to use actual eyeshadow (which I do maybe 5 times a year, because I'm embracing the more natural look in my old age!), mainly because I have a old Lancom eyeshadow that exactly matches the dress... it's two-toned mint green and pink. I did mint green nails too. My first instinct with this dress was to go for rose gold eyes and full-on glittery lipstick, but my fella won't kiss me if I have loads of lipstick on (gotta have a snog on new years huh?!), so I made my eyes the focus then just used (my saviour) NYC appelicious tinted balm, here in 'appelicious pink'
We had a lovely meal with friends....
 And sparklers at midnight!
