Wardrobe Weekly

Monday
This is the dress I got my sister for Christmas from the Anna Scholz sample sale, but it didn't fit her properly so we did a swap (you can see her in the one she chose here .... sadly I bet she has been pipped to the winning post by the lady who got married in a Scholz dress, what are the chances? Last month there were hardly any entries!) anyway, this means that I have a lovely new pink dress in my wardrobe. it's comfy, stretchy and delicious!
My colleagues were impressed that I had matched my lipstick to the dress.... I would describe the colour of the dress as pastel neon pink, so I used Miss sporty 'I love' (038) with Maybellines 'pink punch' baby lips balm over the top. You can't really see the colours accurately in the photos, but it's quite bright!

I just can't get enough....

 New stuff...
This maxi dress from George is a size 24, but I think the 22 would have been a better fit. Couldn't be bothered to exchange it and it has an elasticated waist so it's fine!
It comes with a tie belt, and the best part is that it is really long.
I prefer it with my own belt. I think I can't wait to style this up in the warmer weather, it's such comfy stretch jersey, and I love the almost nude pink colour! I think they also have a striped version of this dress too!
I cannot tell you how heart broken that this swimsuit didn't suit me (okay how heart broken I was that it only goes to a 20!). I don't know why George stops at a 20 in random items, it makes no sense to me, but anyway.... it's really stretchy, but it's too short for my body in a 20 :(
This one is a bit less exciting, but goes up to a 24 and fits very nicely. It looks retro and cute so I'm happy with it. Not as happy as I'd be to have a lions face on my beach body, but happy enough!
Primark is my favourite place for cheap clothes to bum around the house in! I've worn these trousers in the evenings already. They're super stretchy and soft jersey. Comfy comfy comfy!
The t-shirt is just something I bought out of desperation to own something yellow! It'll go well with some of my skirts I think! Both of these are size 20.

Wardrobe Weekly

Monday
I left my bag on for this pic because it's new to me. It's old really, and it was my mums. I've been wanting to steal it for years, but never did because it has a short strap and I always wear either messenger bags or backpacks. When I went home last week I saw it hanging in the utility room with green corrosion all over the metal elements I decided I would just take it and replace the short strap with one of my long ones. Love it now. It's super thick punched leather which squeaks when I open it!

Tuesday
Love this dress, it's a classic!
Dress 22 - Marks and Spencers via ebay
Leggings 20 - Primark

Wednesday
I finally took my Bab's Hunalicki biba style smock shirt out of the wardrobe!
 Very 70's pointy collar!
This is a great shirt if you feel a bit meh... also good if you want to wear a pair of super tight trousers but don't want a obvious muffin-top!
 Shirt 24 - George
Capri jeggings 22 - Dorothy Perkins
Shoes - New Look

The size 26 version of the dress I tried a while back finally arrived, but although it fit well, I'd had too long to think about it by the time it turned up, and I decided against it.... partly because I just bought some other things, partly because I have loads of shirt dresses now and partly because I'm not mad for the colours. If this pattern was bright rather than a bit brown then I would have kept it! Size wise this 26 was perfect for me btw.

Thursday
I plaited my hair in the morning, but when I put this dress on I knew I needed something more ladylike....
..... So I just pinned them back.....
 .....and added a flower!
 Dress 24 - George
Leggings 20 - Primark
Flower hair clip - Primark
Shoes - charity shop
I enjoyed having this WW2 style hair-do, and a little boy called me a princess so maybe I should make the effort more often?! Next thing is to try and learn how to do a fishtail braid (doubt I'll manage it when I can't do a French plait though!)
My boyfriend got a promotion so he treated me to dinner at Gaucho. The steak was just divine, but the pudding.... oh lordy!

Friday
Again this is a first wear for this dress, it's been waiting for milder weather.
I wore my double chain earrings (which I keep forgetting about!) to make this girly dress a bit more funky.
 Dress 26 - Lovedrobe
Belt XL & leggings 20 - Primark
Loafers & earrings - New Look

Saturday
I went to Caravan for Brunch with my best mate (and her husband & baby girl!) to celebrate her birthday, and decided to wear this vintage dress.
I added my red mac (the sun was shining before I left the house) and then proceeded to freeze my tits off wandering round Kings cross. Brrrr!
I wore some square hoops to match the diamond pattern on the dress.
Dress 24 - Vintage via ebay
Leggings 20 & earrings - Primark
Shoes - Asos
Coat 24 - George

Got no need for the fancy things
All the attention that it brings
Tell me no, I say yes, I was chosen
And I will deliver the explosion

It's been a while since I did a post about my vintage love. If you follow my 'Wardrobe Weekly' posts you'll have noticed that I love a bit of vintage. I like to be original in the way I dress, and it's tough to do when you're a big fatty because when something good comes out everybody buys it (I'm down with that of course, sharing great buys is one of the reasons I started this blog after all!), but wearing the odd vintage piece will always ensure that you stand out from the crowd. I've added a few amazing pieces to my wardrobe since the last post (loads in fact, more than I had time to put in here!) so I thought it was time for me do an update.

I got two Norman Linton dresses from the same seller, one fitted and one didn't (I'll be selling that one when I get the time!) which is sometimes the way with ebay buys, but I ended up with this rather cool number.

I wore this delicious skirt a few weeks ago to work. Vintage (super synthetic fabric of course!) midi skirt with pockets that is the most delicious colour! I don't always remember how much things cost, but I remember this one, because I got it for 99p!

This is a vintage Evans dress. The 2nd one to join my wardrobe, which officially makes a collection! I think it is extremely likely that I will end up with more vintage Evans dresses in my wardrobe than modern ones!

Super cute mega 80's party dress. I fell in love with the geometric glitter pattern and the zig zag waist. Had to have it!

What can I say about this jacket?! Errrr.... it's big and glittery, and it HAD TO BE MINE! It's a bit like a kimono jacket, just with smaller sleeves and shoulder pads!
I plan to wear this in many ways, and when I style it up properly I think it's gonna look amazing!

How freaking cool is this dress? I couldn't find any of my black slips so I have a nude one under this, but I'm tempted to get a bright one to go underneath as this is sheer. Can't wait for nice weather so I can rock this beauty!

Okay, so technically this jacket is not vintage, it's from Gap so it's just second hand, but I found it in a charity shop and I was drawn to it like a moth to a flame.
This is a size 12 and I'm a size 24 in non-stretch coats. Obviously this was intended to be massively oversized! It goes without saying that the belt was too small for me, but I added my own in order to nip it in at the waist a bit....
.... I like it loose too, but the length of this means that I finally have a coat to wear with midi's!
Very chuffed with this jacket, it's unusual and chic (in my opinion it is anyway!) so it'll be a great staple!

If you want to buy vintage then here are my tips; make sure you browse all your local charity shops on a regular basis, and try on anything that looks like it might fit you... take no notice of the labels (the Norman Linton dress above is a size 26 and only just fits me, but the floral dress is a 16 and thanks to the loose fit and stretchy crinkle fabric I got into it easily with room to spare!) you will be surprised at how much you can get away with! Ebay is trickier as you can't try before you buy. In this case, search for your size plus & minus 2 sizes. Check the measurements and fabric description and if you need more info just email the seller. I pretty much always email to ask 'is it stretchy', and 99% of the time when the answer is yes the item has fitted me fine!

Now go forth and dare to be different!

Friday
I got the train out to the West Country to see my family on Friday.
We went to Marks and Spencer's with my Nephew and I saw these (best ever) shoes in the sale for £19. My mum treated me to them which was rather exciting.... I'm the only person who treats me to clothes / shoes normally! They are basically my perfect black shoes. Really pointy and mid heel, but more excitingly they have a rose gold metallic heel (I LOVE ROSE GOLD!) and they're a sort of triangular shape heel too. Really stunning! I had to get a 7.5 in these to fit my wide feet (I'm normally a 6.5 in M&S) so size up if you want them! They've sold out of the amazing pink patterned pair, but they have lots of these black ones, they also have them in blue with silver heels, or white with black heels. All of them are awesome!
My Nephew isn't even 2 yet and he is already so tall!
I didn't remember to take a outfit picture till the end of the night so I'm a bit melted and sleepy, but that's pretty much how I look at the end of every day so meh!
