Wardrobe Weekly

It's been another busy one, which is why wardrobe weekly is late again! In my fella's continual attempts to give me a thorough Jazz education, I've been watching Ken Burns 'Jazz' (series of documentaries) and it was that which spurred me on to finally finish my last post 'The wrong scale', which I started writing about 3 months ago. The second episode introduces us to Duke Ellington and I was inspired by his story. I loved the following passages....

"Your manners, your sense of what you are capable of, will carry you past the slights and insults. Always carry yourself as if you're above them, because in fact you are"

"(Ellington's mother) Daisy told her son he must allow nothing to stop him, unpleasant facts and potential barriers were simply to be ignored. He could do anything anyone else could do, and because she believed that, Ellington would always believe it too"

I am in no way comparing fat-phobia or hatred towards racism (which is why I didn't include this in the actual post), but those words just resonated with me, so I sat down and re-wrote that post. Once it was actually posted I could get on with everything else (lots of laundry for instance!). So three cheers for Jazz!

It's actually a fantastically fascinating series, and as you can imagine, most of the musicians stories are hugely inspiring. If you are interested in the history of jazz (well, or just music in general!) then you should check it out - My jazz-mad boyfriend has the DVD's but you can watch it on Daily motion for free here! My Jazz Education continues.....

I'm so in love with this tune that I felt the need to put it up here. Now, on to my week in clothes!

Monday
Oh the joy! This has been in my 'winter' suitcase, and it was the first thing I wanted to wear after I swapped my summer wardrobe over!
I adore this dress. I wore it loads last year and I always feel foxy in it!
Rubber shoes to resist the rain!
Excelent mosaic print!
 Dress 26-28 - AX Paris / ebay
Cardi 20 - Primark
Leggings 20 - South / Very
Shoes - Melissa + J Maskrey & Swarovski

Tuesday
I bought this from Becky's blog sale ages ago, but the weather was too mild to wear it so this is it's first outing!
Cosmic!
Dress 2xl - Domino Dollhouse
Leggings 20 - Primark
Boots - Old via ebay!

 Wednesday
It's autumn, and that means it's time for lightweight jumpers!
When I was little I always thought women looked chic in turtlenecks, and that feeling has never gone away.
I've had this jumper for years - it's an old cheap classic that is ideal for chilly, windy weather.
Jumper 18 - Primark
Jeans 22 - Dorothy Perkins
Shoes - Asos
Earrings - Forever 21

 Thursday
I really liked this outfit. I am a real fan of a simple jeans + jumper combo. It's so simple but it just looks cute!
It's the first time I've worn this jumper (which I got a month or so ago) and I really like it. I wish I could get it in other colours too, it's comfy and lush!
Anyone who likes Doc Martins and has legs like mine (massive - too big for most wellies) should get down to Primark and buy some of these. I LOVE these £10 wellies. They have them in black glitter and floral prints as well as these leopard ones. Genius idea.
Jumper 24 - Barbara Hulaniki for George
jeans 22 - Dorothy Perkins
Boots - Primark

Friday
Please excuse the terrible pictures! I look insane in these, but anyway.... these trousers look much better in real life, trust me!
 Cute print!
Shirt 24 - George
Trousers 22 - Dorothy Perkins

 Saturday
My summer weekend uniform was jumpsuits and flip flops. My winter weekend uniform is jersey joggers, jumpers and slippers!
 Whole outfit - Primark!

 Sunday
Oh the joy of a sunny day after all the rainy doom and gloom!
It's a good jub I didn't pack away my denim jacket along with my other summer coats, because Sunday was oddly hot and very sunny!
A nice simple dress that I got for £6 from the lovedrobe website last year.
I'm wearing REAL hi-tops, not those foul things with the concealed wedge heel. Why anyone would want to ruin a comfy pair of trainers with a big heel is beyond me!
Jacket 22 - New Look Inspire
Dress 24 - Lovedrobe
Leggings 20 - Primark
Hi-tops - Nike

Thursday
I felt the urge to dress in all black on Thursday, which is a rare occurrence these days..... I do tend to think of it as the fat girl uniform, but in the right circumstances it can be super chic. Simply Be very kindly invited me to their Anna Scholz soiree, and I jumped at the chance because it was at her studio and I knew I'd get to see loads of exciting things and people.
Dress 24 - Asos Curve
Necklace & leggings 20 - Primark
Boots - Yours Clothing
Chatting to the lovely Anna Scholz. I believe I told her that her clothes were 'fucking beautiful'.... that's what a few glasses of prosecco and a bit of double silk will do to my brain, I swore at my favourite designer! I stand by what I said though, the new collection is stunning frankly!
One of the dresses I tried, isn't it lovely! Well out of my price range at £420 but if you have cash to splash then this one is already available on the site here. P's I stole the pictures above from the Anna Scholz facebook page!
I also tried on the spectacular 70's print double silk kaftan maxi dress that Amanda is wearing here.... it's very beautiful and will be coming online soon. WANT!
The other dress I was particularly taken with was this one, worn by Gemma (who very kindly gave me permission to steal the two photos above from her blog!). I have a big list of delicious items that I want from both Simply Be & Anna Scholz black / white labels now! I couldn't try the Simply Be pieces because they didn't have my size, but my favorite pieces were...
 .... This delicious dress!
 This beautiful coat!
This (twit-twoooo!) basque. More to add to my wish list! I got to meet loads of bloggers who's blogs I read, and a few bloggers that I didn't know (who's blogs have just been added to my read-list!) Thanks to the Simply Be team for inviting me, and thanks for the macaroons!

Friday
I made an effort to wear something valentines-appropriate, but to be honest this valentines day was a cold and wet blow-out thanks to a hungover boyfriend (the danger of free booze!). I was still quite pleased with this outfit though. I had considered selling this Lovedrobe dress, but I realised that I just didn't like the big collar, so I cut it off and now I'm loving this coral beauty!
Dress 26 - Lovedrobe
Belt - From another dress from forever 21+
Leggings 20 - Primark
Shoe-boots - Asos

 Saturday
Dress 22 - Asos Curve
We went out for a friends birthday on Saturday night, and to be honest it didn't go very well (it started with me twisting my ankle right at the beginning of the night, ended with me hiding in a corner from a bunch of pervy men at a strip-tease pub, and saw me smashing my beautiful white cats-eye ring while smacking a glass bottle of ketchup in a restaurant in the middle), but hey, at least I got to wear this delicious dress out for the first time! I wear this one backwards because I don't like the actual neckline....not low, not high, just an odd in-between round neck that doesn't do the dress justice. Therefore, I go low! I also had to cut my hair (which I've been putting off for ages) because having a massive knot at the back of my head was becoming my regular hairstyle, and I don't carry a brush, so chop chop! Quite like this length thankfully! I feel like I've bought tons of stuff recently, so hopefully I'll have some nice posts coming up for you soon!

Want want want

I have no money at the moment, so I'm just looking.... Here are some things that I want, but I obviously can't have!
I've had many pairs of Irregular choice shoes, and I've always ended up selling them on ebay because they cut my feet to shreds! These little beauty's though, are a sensible height, and look a bit wider than their normal shoes. I've been trying to get some perspex heels for TIME, but they only seem to come with porn-shoes... i.e sky scraping heels that I could never walk in!

Oh good lord this Anna Scholz Dress is beautiful. Fingers crossed for another mega sample sale (and for this dress to be available in my size if that particular dream comes true!)

God damn it Domino Dollhouse! If only the collection all came out at the same time, I totally would have bought this skirt when I got my Nuclear seasons dress. Its the shipping / customs that makes it unaffordable atm :(
I love Tracey Neuls. I love brogues. I love Neon. 'Geek Neon' are amazing.I can't believe I missed their sample sale last month.... Fucking furious at myself for missing the tweets!
I can't see how I would ever afford a Carolyn De La Draperie dress... well expensive! This Eiffel tower print dress is so delicious though, and the shape is so classic!
More Irregular choice shoes. The heels are cherries for fecks sake! Ahhhh man.
Oh my god Rue 114, are you serious?! This jacket nearly made me cry.... want it so badly!

I've wanted some of these Gareth Pugh / Melissa sandals for ages. But I object to paying so much for rubber shoes!
Another corking Anna Scholz Dress with a beautiful Art Nouveu style print. Love the colour palette. Love the dress. Want it!
Dammit United Nude. These lo Res are so cool! I genuinely believe that they would be agony to walk in though, having tried some on recently. The plastic is very hard. Would probably lacerate me so it's good that I can't afford them!

Steilmann dress (via Navabi). Makes my eyes go a bit bonkers, so I like it!

If I were rich, I'd need less of a walk-in-wardrobe, more of a walk-in-house!
