Frida Friday

 JOY!
Today's outfit revolves around one of my most prized possessions; my Frida Kahlo swing dress.
I love a pinup style swing dress at the best of times, but a plus size stretch dress with a Frida Kahlo print is just so exciting!
 The Print is delicious!
I've had this Queen of Holloway dress for a couple of years and I will never ever part with it.... EVER! I hope you'll be happy to know that you can still get this dress (I'm wearing a size 24 here btw, but would probably have fitted the 22 in this particular dress if your wondering about the sizing!) and the best thing is it's only £29.99 via ebay.... for a dress this lovely, with so much fabric that is a fantastic bargain!

Primark necklace from my last post, and a lipstain from Gosh to finish the outfit! I'm also wearing my new favourite blusher from MUA, but I'll tell you about that in another post 'cause I've got loads of lush new makeup recently!

So that was Fridays outfit. Below are some snaps from the rest of the week!

OMG OMG OMG!

My 2 new dresses from Queen of Holloway arrived today, and I am so bloody excited!

As you can see this first dress is super tight on my waist (well, the bit above my belly, which I call my waist!). It's supposed to be a size 24 (4XL) but it's much smaller than normal QOH dresses - still generous on the bust though....

The thing is I feel like a little sex siren in this dress, and as it's a good length so I'm considering folding and sewing it under the bust to raise the wider section of the skirt up to my waist - I need to shorten the halter strap too, or I'd be in danger of showing my boobs to everyone! What do you think ladies? I's it worth me customising or should I just sell it?! Returns aren't really an option as they come from China!

Now on to something a little more classy!
HOW FUCKING AMAZING IS THIS DRESS?!

Oh my god I was excited when this arrived on the site, but I was in RAPTURES when I tried it on!
It's such a good fit - size 24 / 4XL and is quite generous and more stretchy than anything I've had from QOH before. I am so in love!

I have nothing else to say, I'm just going to sit and stare at it for a while!

Queen of Holloway website is a bitch to navigate so the red polka dot dress is here, the black striped dress is here xx

Pin-up Diva

It's Friday! That means it's dress like a DIVA day. I decided today would be a pin-up style day.
Dress - Queen of Holloway
Cardi - Primark
Leggings - Primark
Shoes - Clarks

I'm not at works today, but I have worn this dress to work before (there are very few clothes I wear away from work that I wouldn't be happy to wear in the office - I'm not self concious!). Today I'm waiting for a guy from Ikea to come and look at my broken sofa and then I'm off to the post office for another mammoth ebay posting-fest. Doesn't mean I can't get overdressed! I would normally wear tights with this outfit but at home I'm a leggings girl!
I often wear pin-up style dresses with short cardies, or I tie them up like above.
This cherry print. They are a very pink shade of red, so my perfect accompaniment is this lippy....

I have 4 of these delicious glittery lip crayons. I'm a lip stain / crayon fan. I don't like dry or greasy lips (or sticky) so these provide intense colour and shine, with insane amounts of glitter but don't make my lips feel icky!. This is no.2.
See? Glossy lips without the sticky gloss. Yey!

Perfect party pieces for the festive frivolities!

I'm trying not to misbehave too much spending-wise for the next few months, and I have pretty much all of my festive outfits sorted already. It doesn't stop me appreciating some of the amazing things that are appearing in the plus size fashion world though, so I thought I'd do a special party outfit post in case any of you guys need some inspiration!

First up is a dress that New look bring out every year at about this time. They normally have it in a couple of colours, and the first year it came out I got it in black to wear on New Years Eve. £22.99 bargain!

This is my lovely dress - I completely fell in love with it. I had the red version for a while too (before I sold it after realising that having the same dress in 2 colours when I have nearly 100 dresses is just insane!).

I highly recommend this dress - it's shiny, low cut, nips in the waist while the pleats cover the belly, it's short, it's stretchy, cheap and makes my tit's look like torpedoes! Everything I want is a sexy little black dress.
Sticking with the cheap and cheerful is this bang on trend stud colour block dress from forever 21+. It's body-con and is under £20.
I also like this dress from forever 21+ because it is so very girly. It is sparkly and a-line making it look cute and innocent, but the nude colour just makes it feel a bit naked which I always think is super sexy. £22.75.
Love this £35 dress from Queen of Holloway. Not sure I need to sell this one - it's clearly amazing!
What a saucy little number from Asos! In the sale for £31.50.

I really like this dress, I think it's simple but the detailing make it a bit unusual. AX curve via New look £38.
I think this dress from Very 'So Fabulous' would be really good for a smart work party. It's structured but is still smart and sexy. I think it's a ball buster dress! £39.
This Ruby's Closet dress from the new look website would look super sexy on. It's got the ruching that you get on much more expensive dresses (like the ones you'll see further down) but it's only £42.
I like the print on this dress. A frock for a cool girl I think! Simply be £55.
This is a rock chic dress if I ever saw one! Personally PU makes me sweat just looking at it, but if you can hack it then I reckon this would be a winner! Simply be £55.
I want this dress for myself. I've loved these floaty swing dresses ever since I was a little girl, and this one is prefect to me. Nude with lovely Tim Burton-esque black spindly flowers. I'm having this if it goes on sale! Asos £65.
The prices are going up now! I adore flapper style dresses, and this one looks amazing in the pictures. I'd like to see it on a regular plus size gal! Simply be £85.
Again - Flapper! I think I like the black version of this best, but this model is so lovely I wanted to use this picture! Simply Be £88.
There are no words for how hot these Kiyonna Betsy dresses are. I have this in black and it's my work Christmas party dress this year. Pricey, but worth it! The ruching looks fabulous, and I do so love red dresses. £105 from Curvety.
Another Kiyonna dress from Curvety. The boudoir lace dress is one that has been on my wish list for ages. I love the deep neckline and mocha colouring! £108.
Stepping up another price notch, here is one of the current Anna Scholz dresses that I'm coveting. Jersey gathered panel dress in dark forest print. Look at it for gods sake! Utterly delicious. £259.
Do you have more money than sense?! This Roberto Cavalli dress (via Navabi) might be for you then! If I were going to a very cool party (at a modern art gallery for example!) then this would be the dress I'd want to wear. It's so friggin' cool. If only my bank balance could cope with the £392 price tag!
This is the dress of my dreams. Anna Scholz again, double silk corset dress in Galaxy print. At £395 I think it's fair to say that this will never be mine. Even if it goes on sale I think it would still be out of my reach, but a girl can dream!
For those of you who may be thinking 'I don't wear dresses', then there are a few items I'm loving. These forever 21+ trousers are epic. You'd certainly get noticed in these!  £19.75.
I'd want something fairly plain and simple with such loud trousers, but for parties I'd want a bit of sparkle. Loving this top from New Look for £19.99!
Last but certainly not least is this glitter-tastic top from ASOS Curve (£35). It would look amazing with trousers or a skirt, and I'm fairly sure that nobody could out-shine you if you were wearing this!

There you have it. My suggestions for top-notch festive party outfits!

P's, if you like any of the brands that New Look inspire sells, make sure to check the ebay shop 'my pretty plus' because they sell the same stuff for half the price! xx

Bit of a Meh ASOS review

I thought I'd order some of the nice things from the sale that I've wanted for a while. Didn't go too well! This doesn't put me off ASOS at all because I love their Curve range, It just didn't have much luck with this particular order.....

I really did have trouble getting a picture of this dress, so this is without the feathers attached I'm afraid. It's the peplum dress with feathers & its in the sale for £22.50 so I thought I might aswell try it. Not keen. The dress (size 22) isn't very comfortable and I'm not sure why. I think it just doesn't sit on me quite right, and the sleeves are the worst length for me -I don't go sleeveless so I like short sleeves so I can wear a cardi, or long sleeves.
For me personally, the feathers are too far round the sides - I guess the size of the feather section is the same on all the dresses, so by the time you reach a size 22 there is a massive space between the two sides, so too much belly flopping around for my liking. There are some lovely things about this dress though....
.... the feather sections are detachable so you can wash it, which is very practical. It's also a nice length - just reaching my knees, and the fabric is soft and stretchy, a bit like ponte. All in all though it's not for me, so back it goes.
The second thing I tried was this black jersey jumpsuit (on sale for £12.50). The first thing I thought when I took this out of the bag was 'what horrid material! It is kind of rough jersey, almost reminded me of the old cheap fruit of the loom t-shirts from my youth. But it's currently £12.50 so I could live with it. I wanted it mainly to go with my floral fringed jacket (also from ASOS) which I got a while back. I love it but can;t find anything really goes with it. The 22 of this felt way too big, this size 20 felt better, but still strangely baggy around the bum area! I was tempted to keep this anyway to wear in summer with my lovely jacket, until I looked at the pictures and realised that the top section is see-through!
Also the pockets stick out in a really strange way (on both sizes) and I couldn't get them to stay down. Shame, this could have been a great little summer outfit.

Ah man this tropical print jumpsuit is cool! The 22 in this was too tight for me (it has no stretch at all) so this is the size 24. Its tight on my thighs and then a bit balloon-like under my belly, but I still love it...
..... bit tight on my big ass, and makes my top half look bigger than my bottom half, but I would wear a jacket with it. Ignoring the fact that it's tricky to get on and off (zip at the back) and would be a right pain during the day, I still like it, but I did the sitting down test and knew I couldn't keep it. It gets so tight under my bust and across my thighs when I sit down - I'd be lucky if the seams held, and I'd also be incredibly uncomfortable. Ah well..... better luck next time eh?!
On the plus side my tattoo print pencil dress from Queen of Holloway arrived today, and it's lush, so I'm not feeling too disappointed!
