Hello to any of my readers who have clung on long enough to actually see this post! I think I have to be honest with both myself and you guys. I don't really have time to blog anymore - I also feel like I've reached critical mass with my wardrobe and I honestly don't buy too many clothes nowadays! Let's go out with a bang though, eh?!
My partner and I got married last month, and I obviously had to bring it with the outfit! I've actually had the big dress for aaaaages as I fell in love at first sight with it!
Before we get to what I actually wore, I want to tell you about some other runner ups that I had!
I have this dress in cream and love it! Sold out in that colour now but the red and black are both stunning too!
I have this beauty too! I like it with a red belt! The registry office was just a statutory marriage - the legal bit is how I referred to it! I still wanted to look cute though, and as I wasn't wearing white on the big ceremony day, I wanted white or cream for the registry office.
Such a cute and affordable alternative to Selkie! I love that Shein make dupes in plus sizes too - it's absolutely worth doing a search for "plus puff sleeve dress" if you want to explore all the options. This dress has a pretty fitted waist but an elasticated panel at the back, so it's very flexible for smaller or larger busts! This is a 4xl. Technically a UK 24 but a tad generous!
It was a beautiful day!
My husband and I both kept our outfits under wraps so we were both surprised and a bit excited!Loved every moment of our Registry Office Wedding!
My shoes were from Shein too! They don't have this pair anymore but they have similar things. "Rhinestone shoes" is the search term for this sort of shoe on there ;)P's, I knew I'd sell the white one after the wedding so I got the same dress in other colours because I love it! I chose to wear it ever so slightly off the shoulder for the wedding but normally I'll go for the square neck with it over my shoulders - partly just because I hate strapless bras!On to the big day!A real Selkie. Head in the Clouds Ritz Gown specifically! This is the full cup, 5xl and it’s underwired. The most I've ever spent on a dress…. And at one point I had 2 because I bought it before selkie made full cups as well as the Demi! I sold the Demi (it was outrageously low on me tbh!) when this one arrived, but hey! I get one day to be a princess and I'm not gonna scrimp when I have a dream dress am I?!My husband surprised me by turning up in tails! A prince to my princess. Hang on no! A king to my queen! Both creased because we don't own an iron and that's just who we are lol!
My sisters dress was also from Shien and both of our headbands / tiaras were too. If you're getting married on a budget then Shein will blow your mind when it comes to dresses and accessories. I'm not sponsored by Shein BTW. Just shop there a lot nowadays because asos is boring and expensive and half of it is bloody backless! We managed to sneak away and take some snapshots!
I used hair waver (basically a massive crimper!) to get my hair like this.
We stayed at The Great Higham Barn Complex in Kent. What a fabulous place it is! The Barn is particually wonderful and there's a pool, a hot tub and a tennis court, surrounded by woodlands and fields. This is the reason why I pretty much forgot to take any photos outside of the actual (non-legal!) Ceremony! Sorry about that.... I really failed and honestly, I had some cute outfits! I don't have much evidence of said outfits but I can tell you that during the five days (among kaftans, swimming costumes and lace robes) there was also the Van Gough Day Dress from Selkie, and then another Selkie rip off from Shien for the evening party bit!
Hubby admiring my feet in my Tracey Neuls Towling Sandals. I had to have at least one pair of designer shoes for my wedding didn't I?! So fluffy and cute! Sold out now but honestly, she is the only shoes designer I have time for because she makes shoes you can actually wear comfortably!
We danced in the top of the barn where it’s comfy and there are MASSIVE beanbags and sofas to chill out on!
Happily I have a crap snapshot of the actual dress! My husband loved this outfit so I think I might have to keep this dress! Again, a 4xl but generous in size. Not the case with the other prints in this same design so if you're a 26 then the elasticated backed puff dresses are a safer bet - some of those went up to a 5xl and were much too big for me so might fit size 28 with no issues!Rose gold rings from Glamira. Such a good company! Just classic step bands with no fuss!It was all very homemade. Regular weddings bore me.... too long, really tiring, you have to wait ages for food and there’s nowhere to get some rest or alone time while the couple have their pictures and the dinner gets set up! That’s why I wanted more of a holiday with some wedding chucked in!I chose Great Higham and booked the entire complex (Barn, two tiny cottages and a little Oust cottage!) So we wouldn't be on top of each other and everyone had their own rooms, so no hanging about between events. With lots of help from my amazing family and friends, I made a big but simple roast dinner after the ceremony. Just had to be done! The kitchen was to die for and I loved cooking in it!
Those table clothes are actually flat bed sheets!
Happy days of past, present and future! I'll just add a bunch of joyous snaps of the September celebrations after I say a very heartfelt thankyou to everyone who showed interest in my ramblings over the years - I wish you all massive amounts of happiness and tons of really beautiful clothes in size FAT!
