Asos Curve review 2020 #4. Jeans

Most of my jeans are from asos. I normally wear a size 24 in stretch denim (otherwise the waist is too loose and they start to fall down!) And a 26 in non-stretch denim (or they're uncomfortably tight!). So I wasn't at all impressed by the selection I tired on in my recent order. Nothing was quite right and most of them didn't fit so I didn't take pictures, but I'll do my best to describe them!
I was excited about these. I love flares. I think proper flares are really flattering but I also find them super comfy to wear. Waaaay more comfy than skinny jeans! These turned up and they are not even flares, let alone bell flares! I don't know if on smaller sizes they have a flared look, but on me in a size 24 they look like bootcut jeans. I'd rather not have flashbacks of Parsnips circa 1998, so no thanks! Simply Be Phoebe flares were the only proper flared jeans I've ever found and I wish they still made them (and that I'd managed to get a pair in every colour!), alas, simple flares don't seem to be available anymore. Simply Be do actually have some kick flares at the moment, but they're indigo with orange stitching and are a fussy design. Fingers crossed someone brings out some decent flares soon!

Next up. I have been trying to find a decent pair of black wide leg jeans for bloody years! They are always too small, or too short, or too fussy (again with the  massive stitched pockets?!), but I thought these looked promising when they popped up on asos! Alas, I couldn't button up the size 24. I think I assumed that they would have some stretch and be generous due to the wide cut. WRONG! No space for my bum or belly. I'm not entirely convinced that a 26 would fit well either to be honest. Again I have to give props to simply be for being the only plus size retailer I've ever been able to buy wide leg jeans from (Their 24/7 wide leg jeans in size 26 long, just answered my prayers!).
The 26 in these was too small. I can say one thing for sure..... I'm not bigger than the last time I bought jeans from Asos. I'm still wearing those jeans (both stretch and non-stretch!), so what's up with the sizing, huh? Fucking jokes! Oddly shaped because they were incredibly tight on the belly, bum and hips, but the waist fitted nicely. A size up would certainly be too big on the waistband but a better fit on the hips. I guess they're lacking in shape?! Must have been pinned on the model as she is Jessica rabbit levels of hip to waist ratio!
Again.... got a 24 as I stupidly didn't check the Lycra content! Never gonna get these bad boys done up!
On a slightly brighter note, these fit quite nicely in a 24. Tight on the waist but in that sort of 80s way where the waistband is TIGHT but the trousers are LOOSE! I just didn't like the extra flourishes on these. They also made my bottom look flat, and that is not easy to do with a big bum like mine! They just didn't suit me. But if you like this retro style then they're a good pair of jeans :)

These aren't listed as jeans, but they do seem to be a thin, non stretch denim. I didn't keep these because there was a lot of fabric under my belly, which didn't look good when I moved around. They look kinda nice in the pic admittedly!

I think these are very cute and comfy but would certainly be best on someone with a more hourglass shape than me. If you have big hips and a small waist then these will look awesome. I needed a 26 on the waist, but then the rest of the trousers were just too big.

Asos Curve review 2020 #3. Wide fit Boots

Okay, so first things first; I know not all Asos Curve customers have wide feet, but It does seem like a lot of fat women find regular shoes too narrow, so I thought it would be worth reviewing my recent purchases!

FYI, To get an idea of what I normally wear, I'm probably a wide size 7 / 41. Most of my pointy boots are a wide fit  size 8. Wide fit with a round toe are size 7. I tend to wear mens trainers and in Nike I'm a 7, in Adidas 7.5. My feet aren't very long but they're basically square(!) and I have a super high instep :)

I got these in a size 8 and they're perfect. Extremely comfortable and roomy enough for winter socks. The 7 would have been too small. I was pleased that these are actually flat. So many boots on Asos have chunky heels that are almost 2 inches (2.5 inches is pretty much the highest heel I can comfortably wear!) and I wanted boots that would be comfy for working and walking. Bingo! Quite lightweight but with firm genuine leather. They have a slightly chisled toe, so it's tapered rather than pointy. They look very smart!

Same as above! Oh and they fit my ankles nicely and don't dig in. The elastic will mean these should fit most people.

I got these in a size 8 and they were a bit too big for me, so get your normal size!. They were very bouncy and cool looking though. The style didn't particularly suit me but I LOVED the colour. They're as comfy as they look. Can't imagine they're very good in the rain though!

The are sooooooo pointed that they crushed my toes too much - even in size 8. God knows how narrow the regular ones are if this is the wide fit! Such pretty boots, looked beautiful on, great quality leather. Loved them but the size of the heel pushed my toes into the point even more so they pinched like hell. Like I said at the start, my feet are square, so it depends where the widest part of your foot is..... if your toes taper then these might work for you. Sadly they didn't work for me :(

These are such nice boots. They look great on, are nice and wide and have a tapered and curved pointed toe, so not pinchy! I got a size 8 and they're ideal for winter as I can wear big socks with them comfortably. If I were a tights and no socks type I'd probably be good in a size 7. The sole is slightly bouncy so they're so comfy. Considering getting a spare pair for when I destroy these (as I surely will, by wearing them loads!)

Asos Curve review 2020 #2. Jumpsuit safari

I went through a phase of wearing jumpsuits a few years ago, and then I just couldn't find many that I liked or fit me well.... or ones that had pockets, which is essential for me as I normally wear them in hot weather, AND A BITCH NEEDS POCKETS! So anyway, ASOS Curve had some lovely looking jumpsuits in the sale so I tried a bunch. It went way better than I expected!
Size 28, Yellow (more dark gold / mustard!)

I ordered a 28 because it looked tight on the model and I wanted it to be loose on me. I think this is too loose though! I've ordered the 26 so I can compare.
The satin like fabric is very comfy and lovely. I love it even though it's a bit big. Pockets and not so short in my body that I can't stand up or get in and out of it. I also like it buttoned up and undone. This is a most excellent jumpsuit!
I adore this golden mustard colour and subtle snake print!
Here is the 26. Much better! I kept the 28 photos in because they're daylight and so show the colour much better!
it's still got a good bit of room to manoeuvre! Oh and I'm happy to say that it's not too hard to get in and out of this one as it's a decent length in the body :)
Keeper!
This is cute but it's actually too big on the body and the elastic around the bust is too loose. The arms on the other hand has super tight elastic and are not comfy at all! I've added the 24 to my wish list though and I'll tell ya' for why....
It's sort of a linen like fabric. A tad course, but i think it would be great in hot weather. It has good pockets. The arms can be easily removed as they're separate and just attached with a bit of stitching. I wanted a cute jumpsuit for sunbathing and I think this one would be ideal without the sleeves!

This is a bit of a bastard to get in and out of, so be warned! Only just long enough for my body, but super cute and perfect for hot weather! Nice light and thin, soft fabric.
It's hard to see, but there are two sizable breast pockets so I find it acceptable for summer outfits!

Last up is this lightweight pale denim number. I could easily get into the 24 I think, but I want to keep the 26 as I like it being quite loose. It's insanely comfy! Very easy to get in and out of too.
Such big pockets! Love this one! It's sorta pale blue but veering towards duck egg rather than baby pastel blue. It's a pretty colour. I possibly look like I work in a hospital but who cares. These overalls are cute and comfy! I highly recommend these guys, they're lovely!

ASOS Curve review 2020 #1. More sale stuff

Next batch!

Size 24, Green

I really want a vinyl coat for when it's raining. I have a lush rose gold waterproof jacket, but it's hooded and shapeless so I want a more feminine option. Plus one that covers my thighs would be good for when the rain is particularly mental!
This coat is ace. It looks awesome. But it smells like fish, and anyone who knows me, knows that I can't even abide FISH that smells like fish(!), so I just can't keep this. Gutted really. I tried something similar from pretty little thing and it also smelt like fish. It was also snake print but cream coloured so I don't know if it's something specific to this print and texture?
It's a generous cut. Really nice fit all over. Sleeves a bit long but I'd be happy of that in a downpour. I'll have to try some of the other pvc / vinyl coats from Curve when they go into the sale. I have some vinyl dresses and none of them smell like fish so I see no reason why all of the coats should!

This dress looks cute on. It's thinner fabric than I had expected so I don't know if it will keep me as warm on the body as I'd need if I'm choosing to wear a turtleneck.
It's comfy and smart. A bit of give to the fabric. It's somewhere between knitted jersey and sweatshirt but with texture. Does that description make any sense at all?! I hope so!

Size 26, multi (it's brown!)

I knew I'd like this coat. It's smart and comfy and pretty and everything I love in a a coat.
I I wish I could get this it in a more exciting colour. I already have a brown coat (quite different to this one admittedly!) But I do like this a lot!
I got the 26 and it's a perfect fit. It will be ideal for wearing over big jumpers without becoming too tight. It has poppers but the sash belt holds it together and they don't open it. It's very comfy indeed.
It's a winter coat but not a thick one. It wouldn't be useful in the depths of winter unless you are wearing really warm clothes underneath. The fabric is firm and smooth. Love it!
Size 20, electric blue (teal!)

Ahhhh that's better! The 20 is a much better fit. Still properly oversized!
See?! They also have this in the standard range so I think if you normally wear a 20 you could get a 16 from there and you'd probably be fine. And of course if you normally wear a size 30 you could probably wear 2 or 3 sizes smaller easily!
The hips are sewn up to be slightly curved, so the smaller size is a bit shorter and fits my shape a bit better.

Size 20, Electric blue (take a look at my first review of this to see more accurate colour!)

I wanted to try this dress in a smaller size to see what the fit was like, and I have to say that I think it is definately wise to size down in it. I found the top and sleeves way too big on the 24, but the skirt was still clingy. I figured it would look better if it was actually tight on the bottom and properly fitted on the top. I was right! Much better in a size 20.

Why can't asos make a beige trench or mac with arms that are actually in proportion to the rest of the fucking coat?! Way too tight on the upper arms.

The shoulders slope too much in this for me to want to keep it (I already have an over sized coat this shape!) And I ordered it because on the model the sleeves looked like they actually started on the shoulder. Sadly they don't so the shape is too similar to my other one. I think the 24 might have been a bit tighter on my bum and belly than this style would suit, so it depends on your body shape as to what size will be best for you!
BUT if you're looking for a cool and warm coat then this is less than £40 in the sale and it's really very lovely! It's a tad darker in real life that it looks on the website, but it's pretty. A bit fluffy and coarse while still being soft. If I had more money and more space I'd wanna keep this!

Meh. The fabric is that thin and super synthetic sort that is going to get static and stick to me when I walk. The sleeves are actually a decent fit though!
Oh and..... gaping. Like I said, meh.
When a picture paints a thousand words, I probably don't need to say much more do I?!

Happy New year my lovelies!
