I took advantage of 20% off sale items to try stuff that I really didn't need..... and luckily none of them were keepers, but my gawd they were fun to flounce around in for a few minutes.
I'm not sure why Asos like to make clothing that looks perfect from the front, but has half the back missing. It genuinely baffles me. Why would I want to wear something as OTT as this (that covers most of my body and it probably quite warm to wear for long periods of time) and then have a naked back?
Also, how many plus size women go out without a bra on? How can you wear a bra with backless dresses?! I have removed so many dresses from my Asos wishlist when I've realised that they are backless..... it happens WAY more than it needs too! I. Don't. Get. It!
Anyway, let's looks at the positives. Coolest sequins I've ever seen on a dress. too good. Amazing! Good length. Size 26 and pretty typical of Asos sizing. It doesn't tweak my nips personally, because it's so voluminous on top but quite tight on the hips. Not my jam, but otherwise, this is a bit of a show stopper if you're cool with an open back!
I've had a whole bunch of John Zack dresses in my wishlist for aaaaagggggeeeessss. I like that the sequins are glued into the fabric so they don't feel like they will fall off the way the sewn in kind do. plus stretchy! I tried this little number first because it's veering towards rose gold!
So it's a bit sheer innit?! I mean I know I had on black undies that day, but I think you'd see my light undies through it too! On the plus side it's mega stretchy and very comfy, so if you have good nude underwear you'd have no trouble!
Now then, size-wise I got the 26 because the 24 had sold out. This shape falls into the same trap on me as the Asos dress above - felt too big on top, but was tight on the hips and bum. In a darker colour I probably wouldn't have minded! Planning to try the other ones in my wishlist sometime because the sequins are awesome!
Oh god this is SO pretty isn't it?! Ergh if I had even ONE event I could wear this too I'd keep it, because it makes me feel like princess (a mermaid princess, according to my boyfriend!). I got the size 26 but in an ideal world I'd have like the bodice to be a bit tighter (particularly on the waist) so I'd wan't the 24 if I were to keep it! Having said that I think it would look lovely with a thin metallic belt.
Please excuse the pink bra..... I didn't really have the right undies for this one! It's low at the back but not so low that you'd have to go braless!
The layers of tulle are perfect and flowy and soft. The spaghetti straps are firm elastic, so it can accommodate the biggest or smallest boobs I'd say.
Oh and it's very long. Stunning frankly! and currently £35 which is insane. This would be so good as a bridesmaid dress.... or even a wedding dress if like me, you think wearing white for a wedding is a tradition that is a bit outdated now! I don't need it so I'm returning it, but I have these pics to remind me of the time I was a mermaid princess!
