So I've had my eye on a couple of things on Asos that I point blank just refuse to pay full price for, and happily they're both in the sale, but with the additional 20% off sale deal that popped up recently I couldn't resist any longer!
Just a couple of bits before the coats though!

So look.... there is certainly a market for oversized clothing for plus size women, but in my experience so much of it is crap! Generally speaking, when regular size ranges are oversized they are sensibly proportioned; made to look baggy rather than just looking like you're wearing clothes that are 4 sizes too big for you. Very often the length and the sleeves and the neckline are accurate to size, but the body is super generous so it looks deliberate. OBVIOUSLY there are some styles designed to look like you're wearing your boyfriends shirt and it's massive on you, but most oversized clothes for thin women, aren't that. They're supposed to look effortless and slouchy, so the wrists and neck etc need to have some sort of fit or shape that fits the body size of the person wearing it! Why don't plus size women get to have that same style? This is a size 24 apparently. For a size 24 woman with arms that scrape along the floor?! Meh!
Every oversized or slouchy / slubby item of clothing I have is made from a soft or flowing fabric so that it falls beautifully. Loose deliberately, but obviously still made to fit me. I want more of that in plus sizes! If this shirt had sensible length sleeves and was made from satin or jersey, it would have been awesome. As it is, I hated it. If it's supposed to look like I'm a child wearing my dads shirt, why is it curved to fit hips? I dunno.... maybe this works for someone, but even if I sized down I think the starchy fabric kills it!
First coat up is the one I'm not keeping. This is actually great for so many reasons - It's lightweight, generously sized (this is the 24 and I often need a 26 in Asos coats and jackets!) and the colour is LUSH! The only reason I'm not keeping it is because I was more excited about the other style I tried!
Super easy to wear and brilliant for warmer weather. For less than £30 you can't go wrong with this one, but only get your normal size if you want it to look oversized!

YES PLEASE! I was excited by this when I saw it at full price, because I love a coat with unusual detailing, but a coat with pops of neon? Yes. Please. Thank you.
So then, collar down or collar up, it's awesome! However, going back to that plus size ranges doing oversized bullshit again.....
Here is the sticking point. I'm wearing a size 18. No shit. It looks very oversized on the model, but sometimes with asos you just can't tell if that's because they have her in the wrong size or not!

Initially I ordered the 24, and it drowned me! So I re-ordered the 20, and thought MAYBE just in case I should get the 18 too. Good job I did huh? The most noticeable difference between the size 20 (only available in curve range) and the 18 (available in both curve and regular range) is the sleeves. The body was bigger, obviously, but the sleeves are SO much longer on 20!
I don't understand what the crack is with retailers and designers thinking that because a woman is fat, when is also some sort of long limbed giant?! And I'm 5'8", so I'm taller than average! It annoys me that so many women of average height and below have to deal with sleeves that entirely cover their hands. I wish Asos would sort it out!
Anyway! Happily if you wanted one of the curve versions, it has the little belts on the wrists to hold them up, so on this occasion the stupidly long sleeves don't ruin the coat. Plus if you are a size 18 or 20 and like me, don't want to wear this coat massively oversized, then you can get it from the regular range, a few sizes smaller. And yey! If you wear a size (or 3!) above what the curve range goes up to.... still can fit into this awesome coat!
Love it! The belt and wrists can be worn reversed if you want less neon, but honestly.... why would anyone want that?!
