ASOS Curve review 2019 #1. Velvet!

Okay! Sale buys from Asos Curve!

Nowadays at ASOS I'm a 24 in jeans and dresses with some give, but I tend to get a 26 in very structured / non-stretch clothing. In looser cuts or very stretchy a 22 often fits best. As with most ranges, the size I need changes according to shape and tailoring. I'm 5'8" ish, have a big double belly and bum, plus a wide back. Oh and I don't dress to look slimmer or care much about things being flattering!

I just have my everyday bra and pants on. I'd normally have tights or leggings on under dresses, but wanted to show them without any skimming or shaping from my undies!
Electric Blue, Size 24

I love the colour of this dress. I also love crushed velvet as it doesn't cling or look as lumpy as regular velvet.
Please excuse my white balance having a melt down.
I like short dresses in winter. A mini with some opaque black tights are a thing of joy! So for me this is a perfect tights length.
I I don't like the sleeves on this dress very much. Thankfully they're elasticated at the wrist so you can make them 3-4ish, which I prefer. I'm not too keen on how this shape works on me. I think maybe it would be best on a woman who is smaller up top, bigger on the hips..... it would balance nicely. It's a bit too shapeless on me I think :(. It has buttons down it, which seem unnecessary to be honest.
On the plus side this dress is so bloody comfortable! It's light and stretchy but warm too. It's also only £18 at the moment and the colour really is delicious! Would 100% recommend this to other plus women.
Another stunning colour here! Basically the same sleeves as the last one, but the smock style balances out my shape more than the blue dress.
Super comfy. I will happily wear this to work when it gets closer to Christmas, with some leggings and boots.
This is likely to be knee length on many women, but It's a mini on me. Stretchy and soft. It's a keeper. I'd wear my hair up with this one and go full cute. The previous dress felt more sexy, this one feels more playful!
Teal, size 24 (easily could have got a size 22 in this one)

Back to blog

It's been a while. This little blog of mine is an interesting time capsule of my old life..... my world (and sadly, the world in general) has changed so much since 2015. Don't ask. Seriously!

Anyway, over the last few years I've been increasingly annoyed that ASOS still don't offer reviews on thier site. I still shop at ASOS Curve ALL THE TIME, and I really struggle to find reviews of what I buy, or even photos of plus size women wearing the clothes so I can get an idea of sizing. I have therefore been mulling over the idea of starting up this blog again, purely to review asos curve clothing.

I often like the more out-there, sculptural or crazy clothing from Asos. The stuff I've genuinely seen plus size vloggers make fun off.... seriously. I recently watched a plus size woman deliberately buy clothing she thought was stupid and ugly in order to try it all on and mock it on YouTube. It was basically my wish list. It annoyed me. The comments underneath were bleak, and painted a picture of a nation of fat women who are scared to push boundaries and willing to mock anyone who does. That vlogger may not be able to pull off fashion-forward pieces, but some of us can..... and we should! The thing I love most about Asos is that it give plus size women the same opportunities as slim women to wear interesting and sometimes all-out bonkers clothing!

BIG arms in BIG puffy sleeves.
Dress Asos Curve (sold out), snag tights (mustard).

So I'm back to try a new task out. Asos curve reviews by me and (fingers crossed!) other contributors too. It's not about working with or for brands. It's not about pretty pictures or perfect angles. It's about honest reviews and advice about Asos Curve clothing, and I hope it will be very helpful to my fellow fat fashionistas!

I've got a whole bunch of items to review and I'll try to get them up while the pieces are still available. It's good to be back my lovelies.

Let the bitching commence!
