The Shire

This weekend the parsnips were in Wiltshire for my grandmothers 90th birthday celebrations. I was so happy that the sun was shining so that I could show the boyf some of the beautiful countryside (rather than just my parents living room!) but more importantly it meant I got to wear some good outfits!

We got the train on Friday and l finally got to wear the next maxi dress I got from traid for £6 earlier this year. Love it!

On Saturday I wore a dusky pink chiffon dress that I've been saving for my grans birthday, this dress is from China and I loved it as soon as I saw it on ebay, it reminds me of a Chloe dress I saw in a fashion mag a few months ago.

I was a bit worried that the sizing would be small so I wanted to order the 24, but as they'd sold out of that size I ended up ordering size 22 & size 26. As it turned out the sizing is pretty spot on and the 22 was perfect on me. This means that if you're a size 26 and you like this dress then you might like to visit my blog shop here, where I'm selling it for £20!
I felt very lady like in this while frolicking in Lydiard park with my beloved!

3 generations of Parsnips!

I put my flip-flops on for this morning jaunt but changed in to my heels for an extremely posh afternoon tea at Whatley manor...

I hope you'll agree that this is the perfect dress for somewhere like this, quite lady like! My sisters dress is by south and she got it from very btw.

Ummmmm cakes..... How amazing is my gran? Still sprightly at 90!

 Ummmm pimmmmmsssssss......

Sunday was grans proper birthday party with extended family, and I got to wear another dress thats been waiting for a party!  I feel like a film star in this dress, its so beautiful....
I didn't want to wear leggings but it wasn't as warm as I had expected it to be. Never mind, still looks amazing!
My mum made a MAHOOSIVE cake!
Can you tell this is my mum an sister by any chance?! Look at my lush nephew!
I chose this dress because I wanted to look nice (obviously) but also I needed something I'd stay cool in, but it had to be comfy for sitting in a restaurant (and allow for belly expansion after a big roast dinner!). Double silk is ideal for this kind of this because it's light and stretchy!

I'm not wearing any shaping undies underneath this by the way, this dress is just an amazing shape!

I also picked up this cute monochrome jumpsuit from Primark for £10. The 20 is pretty generous and I love that it's got cuffed ankles and pockets!

Felt a bit like I was in a Harem wearing this outfit!

I got a 'mood' ring from ebay (here) and I love watching the colours change when it heats up on my finger!)

Leggings - Primark
Flip flops - Ipanema (similar here)

This coat is one of the 2 items I got from the 1st Swan collection. Still love this jacket, it's great for this kind of weather, although admittedly the shape means that it only goes with a few things!

So then, in my review of this dress (here) I said that it wouldn't necessarily be good in hot weather because the fabrics a bit synthetic, but I completely take that back, it was great in the heat and kept me very cool! I do however stick by my claim that it is not very good quality for £45. It's quite see-through so I'm wearing a nude body shaper underneath (little bit like this one). It's got much baggier throughout the day, and despite it being quite spacious on me now I spent my lunch hour sewing up the button holes because they kept coming apart every 2 minutes..... just walking from room to room seemed to be enough to pop them open which is fucking ridiculous! It also creased up really badly on the back of the skirt, and because the fabric is so flimsy there is not weight to pull it back down! BUT.....

....... it just LOOKS so beautiful! If this had been a firmer fabric with a bit of stretch to it I don't think I would have had so many problems with it today (and more people would have fitted into it!) but I'm not a designer so what do I know?! Anyway, I've got a long weekend full of activities coming up, so my next post will be outfit-tastic! xx

Print-tastic weekend

Quick post with my weekend outfits... there were actually 3 thanks to a 'no time for a shower' outfit on Saturday morning!
My boyfriend had a few too many shandys on Friday night and woke up starving (& with the shakes!) on Saturday morning. As we didn't have anything to fry in the flat I had to get dressed quick-smart and venture out in the search of a tasty breakfast. Luckily it was hot so I could just chuck this H&M+ dress on. Annoyingly this has disappeared from the website but I got it quite recently so it's probably still in store (if your lucky enough to have one that stocks the plus range!).
After getting home and showering I thought I'd continue with the bright patterns and put my favourite primark stretchy tropical trousers on. perfect weather for these - they're quite warm so I can't wear them when it's really hot, but yesterday was just right!
Teamed up with my old George top & Primark pumps. To be honest, the only reason I even bothered to get re-dressed was because my ASOS parcel arrived and I couldn't wait to try everything on! Still didn't bother with makeup though. Lovely day!
Off to see my friends new born today, and sticking with the ott prints!
Nice comfy dress this turned out to be, although the wind did blow it open a few times!
We were joking that I was like a Grecian lady from the future. Grecian style dress yes, but with a cosmic print. Gladiator sandals yes, but Nike gladiators!
Yeahhhh.... sooooo 2 years ago. Don't care, they're awesome.
I ended up wearing my hair in a ponytail because I think it suits the dress better!

Asos Curve black & white review

Hey y'all, my ASOS order arrived so insanely quickly, I picked it up today and thought I'd do a quick review.... I look a bit... errrr... haunted?! It's just because I've got no makeup on!
New Asos Curve jumpsuit. My experience with Asos (jersey) jumpsuits is that they're always too baggy on the bottom, so I sized down to a 20.
This just isn't for me, it's basically exactly the same shape as the black jersey jumpsuit I reviewed last year and sadly it doesn't fit my body as I'd like. The bodice is a bit too short and the pockets stick out in an odd way. The flash does make it look a bit white but it's actually not too bad in normal light.
Although I'm not keeping this, I think it will be brilliant on other people - probably someone with a shorter body than me... or just shorted in general might make the proportions better & more comfortable. Glad I sized down though, the 22 would certainly have been baggier on my legs / bum than I'd like!
Oh man I so wanted this dress, it's amazing, but as you can see it really really accentuates my lumpy belly & thighs. It's not quite as bad in normal light but wowzers! This is a size 22 btw.
The front of the dress is a print on a paler colour so when it stretches it goes white and really draws attention to the bumps :( Above is without shapewear....
It's a bit better with shaping pants, but still doesn't do me any favours.
Basically this dress is amazing but just not for me. I really recommend it for any plus size ladies with a flatter tummy because the fabric is delicious and the best feature is the hem of the dress - it's really tight so its a proper bodycon - no bagginess here! Be warned though, It's quite long.... if your average height or shorter I think this would be approaching midi length!
I knew I'd like this top! I was worried it wouldn't be stretchy so I sized up to a 24, but it has a decent amount of give.
I'm glad I sized up, as I think the 22 would have been a bit too clingy and would have looked weird!
Keeping this one! Ahhhh well, when it comes to Curve keeping one out of three ain't bad!
