Top-tastic Primark haul!

I have a number of highly patterned trousers & skirts, and I find it really difficult to match them with tops. Finding (relatively) plain tops that cover my belly is tricky, but I went nuts in Primark on Friday and got some great bits & pieces, all size 20......

 Love this little star print top! £5.

 Shell top (worn backwards, 'cause I'm a bit backwards!). £6.

 I do plan to wear a vest under this (or at least black underwear!). £8.

 I tried the New Look inspire victoriana top like this (£17) below.....

..... and the size 24 was slightly smaller than this primark size 20. You can see that the neck is identical, but the Primark one is stretchy all over unlike the new look version. Primark also does this in navy which I sort of preferred, but I have more blue tops than white so I thought this would be more sensible. Winner! £8!

 Love these stretch cowboy tops, so comfy and a great length for trousers / skirts. on sale for £3 each!

 I've been trying to get a bowie t-shirt for fucking years! Didn't want a shapeless mens t-shirt, but couldn't get a women's one that fitted me. FOUND ONE TODAY! I love Primani! £8!

 Lovely plain blue t-shirt (£3.50) and pop art skirt (£8). The skirt is actually pretty big, I would have got the 18 if I'd realised. Could easily stretch to a size 26 I reckon (I think it will be baggy on my size 24 ass after a few hours wear!)

I love hair accessories at the moment! this cute little headband was £2 I think. Love it!

I wore one of my new tops yesterday.

If your ever wondering why I take my own pictures in my bedroom with a timer, it's because my boyfriend is totally useless with a camera - they confuse him for some reason. This is what I wore to the BBQ yesterday, and this is his first pic (fingers in-front of the flash).

This is the one where he took so long to take the picture that I had started leaning against the wall for support....

... we got there in the end!

Thats it guys! Crazy that I find more clothes in Primark than in stores that are supposed to do my size, but with such cheap prices I'm not going to complain!

Yay or nay

I made a massive asos order last week, because asos 'here to help' kindly gave me a 10% off discount code after I complained about the 'midi' dress that turned out to be a mini dress! Thought I'd try their trousers. I've never ordered asos curve trousers before......

 I thought it would be sensible to size up in trousers, as the pair above had little stretch and the pair below had no stretch.

 

Couldn't even do the size 24 up. and look how big they are at the ankle, and how long they are compared to the model. Nope, no good at all!

Bummer! I would have loved these (although a bit wide at the ankle again!). No stretch size 24, no way near getting these done up, and my bum was totally squished. No no no!

These are the cheap & cheerful jersey peg legs in size 22. I feel odd wearing trousers that are so flimsy (and a bit see-through in certain lights!) but they really are quite nice, and of course super comfy. Keeping these, wearing them as I type in fact!

Now on to the tops!

Size 22. 

Too clingy! I do love shiny things, and actually really like the fabric, but it's too tight on my belly so I'm not keeping it.

Size 22. I just feel very uncomfortable in this top. It's lovely on the model, and is the same top in real life, but it's just not for me. Tried it with a belt but without a proper waist it just looks silly!

I think it's the arms holes that I don't like - when my arms are down they sit in a position that irritates me and rubs. Oh well, as you'll see in my next post I bought a ton of tops from Primark today so I'll get over it!

Ending on a high note, I got this cute jersey (yes, it really is jersey this time!) dress, which I love. My flash makes it look lighter than it is. Dunno why ASOS call it a midi when it's just above the knee on the model and around about knee length on me - you'd have to have extreamly short legs for this to be a midi! Anyway, even thought this is a size 22, the belt doesn't fit me (surprise!). I wasn't sure when I first put this on, but I love it in the pictures so I'm keeping it! I bet the black version would look awesome, but as I already have so many black dresses I thought I'd go for 'beet red'! Available here!

Working nine to five

Just fancied a bit of 70's vintage today....

Cough cough sneeze OOTD

Urgh....

I am bored of coughing. I have had an outrageous amount of colds this winter,  I blame this long cold spell (and my germ filled colleagues!). 

I FINALLY got to wear my Navajo coat from Very. I know it looks too warm for spring but it's really quite thin, so it's perfect for this odd weather.

Anyway, getting up and getting dressed when I feel this rough is stressful, so I turned to one of my old favorites, this primark swing top. Good thing too as my jeans are just out of the wash and were so tight this morning that I could only just do them up!

 I know I'm a broken record, but I do just adore crocs. These ones are so cute and comfy. I like them best with bright glittery socks as you can see! As always I was tempted to get a brightly coloured pair, but for once I was sensible and got black. They currently have purple ones which I really love!

These are perfect for me because they have a very well padded platform sole with a tiny bit extra on the heel. height without pain! I always this the t-bar / mary jane stylings make them look like heels from the front.

I'm wearing one of my favorite nail varnishes today btw, it's by Catherine Arley and is holographic. It's hard to photograph!

I got it via ebay from Bulgaria & I think the same seller still sells it here. I also have gosh holographic hero, but this one is more glossy and sheer.

I'm obsessed with holographic stuff at the moment, but I'm also a bit fussy. I was going to buy some flats from forever 21 (they are amazingly strobey and intense) but they just don't fit my feet properly and I knew I'd get awful blisters on my wired flat ankles, so I resisted. Only £13.75 though if you want them, and available in 3 different colours (here). Be warned! Forever 21 sizing is fucking ridiculous and their UK size 8 is a EU40! Might explain why their plus sizes are all over the place. Size up ladies! I'm off to Primark later to see if they have stolen the idea!

I am tiding myself over with these cute £7.99 sneakers from H&M. They have gone from the website now, but I bought them instore (& had to size up 'cause they're so narrow!)

Pop Art

One of the perks of my job is that I sometimes get to go to exhibitions early in the morning before the museum / gallery opens. Today I went to Tate modern to see the Lichtenstein exhibition. A lovely day for it! I wore my new pop art dress from new look inspire (sadly sold out now) with my super molded Crocs (here in silver or brown) and although you can't see it here, a red mac - first spring jacket I've worn this year, hooray!

This being the Tate and all, they of course had some great merchandise for this exhibition including books, cushions & even beer with Lichtenstein prints on. Of course I'm more interested in clothes and accessories!

A £50 silk scarf for the discerning pop art fan...

A £25 t-shirt for the funky monkey (I'm already regretting not buying this, might have to make an online purchase!)....

NOT ACCEPTABLE!

You guys know how much I love ASOS Curve, (I think half my wardrobe may be from there now!) but I am so pissed about this dress. I waited so long for this to go on sale so I could get it for a decent price, and when it arrived I was bloody outraged!

The dress in the picture is lovely isn't it? I excitedly ordered it in my normal size 22. tried it last night. In real life? WTF?!

NOT THE SAME DRESS.... AGAIN! Lets run through the description on the site shall we?

ASOS CURVE Midi Dress in Wallpaper Print... No it isn't. It comes to above my knees, and I am considerably shorter than thier model.

Made from a soft jersey fabric - No it isn't. This is a shell like fabric with absolutely no stretch! I know Jersey can be made of many things, but it ALWAYS has stretch, so this is not jersey.

High waisted design - Not it isn't. Most waists on Asos regular dresses hit me under the boobs because I have a long body. This dress may be the first ever curve dress to hit me bang on my waist!  

The neck is different to the pictures too. 

 See how short this 'midi' dress is?! You may remember how ANGRY I got about the geo print dress I bought (post here) when it arrived and was considerably different to the image on the website (which still hasn't been changed despite me going on and on about it & them saying the picture would be changed. ASOS IT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE TO MISLEAD YOUR CUSTOMERS LIKE THIS. Trading standards for christs sake! 

Personally this dress is now going back because I wanted what I saw on the site (a jersey midi), but if you like the shorter version then I should warn you to size up, as it's not stretchy and the bust / arms are very tight.

 Okay, onto something more cheerful....

 New look inspire pop art dress was a success, and I'll wear it to the private view of the Lichtenstein exhibition on Monday morning (not with white undies though obviously!). This is a size 22 - tight but as it's bodycon that's fine. This seems to have sold out now I'm afraid.

A few days out west

I decided to take a few days this week to see my family. I hadn't seen my mum, sister or nephew since Christmas so I thought it was about time to get out west! These are the outfits I wore. I've also put in my sisters dress because she says its super comfortable & is still available to buy (unlike most of what I've been wearing this week!)
