Cough cough sneeze OOTD

Urgh....

I am bored of coughing. I have had an outrageous amount of colds this winter,  I blame this long cold spell (and my germ filled colleagues!). 

I FINALLY got to wear my Navajo coat from Very. I know it looks too warm for spring but it's really quite thin, so it's perfect for this odd weather.

Anyway, getting up and getting dressed when I feel this rough is stressful, so I turned to one of my old favorites, this primark swing top. Good thing too as my jeans are just out of the wash and were so tight this morning that I could only just do them up!

 I know I'm a broken record, but I do just adore crocs. These ones are so cute and comfy. I like them best with bright glittery socks as you can see! As always I was tempted to get a brightly coloured pair, but for once I was sensible and got black. They currently have purple ones which I really love!

These are perfect for me because they have a very well padded platform sole with a tiny bit extra on the heel. height without pain! I always this the t-bar / mary jane stylings make them look like heels from the front.

I'm wearing one of my favorite nail varnishes today btw, it's by Catherine Arley and is holographic. It's hard to photograph!

I got it via ebay from Bulgaria & I think the same seller still sells it here. I also have gosh holographic hero, but this one is more glossy and sheer.

I'm obsessed with holographic stuff at the moment, but I'm also a bit fussy. I was going to buy some flats from forever 21 (they are amazingly strobey and intense) but they just don't fit my feet properly and I knew I'd get awful blisters on my wired flat ankles, so I resisted. Only £13.75 though if you want them, and available in 3 different colours (here). Be warned! Forever 21 sizing is fucking ridiculous and their UK size 8 is a EU40! Might explain why their plus sizes are all over the place. Size up ladies! I'm off to Primark later to see if they have stolen the idea!

I am tiding myself over with these cute £7.99 sneakers from H&M. They have gone from the website now, but I bought them instore (& had to size up 'cause they're so narrow!)

Pop Art

One of the perks of my job is that I sometimes get to go to exhibitions early in the morning before the museum / gallery opens. Today I went to Tate modern to see the Lichtenstein exhibition. A lovely day for it! I wore my new pop art dress from new look inspire (sadly sold out now) with my super molded Crocs (here in silver or brown) and although you can't see it here, a red mac - first spring jacket I've worn this year, hooray!

This being the Tate and all, they of course had some great merchandise for this exhibition including books, cushions & even beer with Lichtenstein prints on. Of course I'm more interested in clothes and accessories!

A £50 silk scarf for the discerning pop art fan...

A £25 t-shirt for the funky monkey (I'm already regretting not buying this, might have to make an online purchase!)....

NOT ACCEPTABLE!

You guys know how much I love ASOS Curve, (I think half my wardrobe may be from there now!) but I am so pissed about this dress. I waited so long for this to go on sale so I could get it for a decent price, and when it arrived I was bloody outraged!

The dress in the picture is lovely isn't it? I excitedly ordered it in my normal size 22. tried it last night. In real life? WTF?!

NOT THE SAME DRESS.... AGAIN! Lets run through the description on the site shall we?

ASOS CURVE Midi Dress in Wallpaper Print... No it isn't. It comes to above my knees, and I am considerably shorter than thier model.

Made from a soft jersey fabric - No it isn't. This is a shell like fabric with absolutely no stretch! I know Jersey can be made of many things, but it ALWAYS has stretch, so this is not jersey.

High waisted design - Not it isn't. Most waists on Asos regular dresses hit me under the boobs because I have a long body. This dress may be the first ever curve dress to hit me bang on my waist!  

The neck is different to the pictures too. 

 See how short this 'midi' dress is?! You may remember how ANGRY I got about the geo print dress I bought (post here) when it arrived and was considerably different to the image on the website (which still hasn't been changed despite me going on and on about it & them saying the picture would be changed. ASOS IT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE TO MISLEAD YOUR CUSTOMERS LIKE THIS. Trading standards for christs sake! 

Personally this dress is now going back because I wanted what I saw on the site (a jersey midi), but if you like the shorter version then I should warn you to size up, as it's not stretchy and the bust / arms are very tight.

 Okay, onto something more cheerful....

 New look inspire pop art dress was a success, and I'll wear it to the private view of the Lichtenstein exhibition on Monday morning (not with white undies though obviously!). This is a size 22 - tight but as it's bodycon that's fine. This seems to have sold out now I'm afraid.

A few days out west

I decided to take a few days this week to see my family. I hadn't seen my mum, sister or nephew since Christmas so I thought it was about time to get out west! These are the outfits I wore. I've also put in my sisters dress because she says its super comfortable & is still available to buy (unlike most of what I've been wearing this week!)

Working Girl

I do like a bit of 80's flavour now again when it comes to clothing, and I have fond memories of movies full of shoulder pads and pixie boots that I loved when I was younger.

Working Girl was one of my favourites.......

... although even as a child I thought the massive hair & all the way to the eyebrow makeup was ridiculous!

 So anyway this vintage 80's dress makes me feel like a bit of a working girl. I love the colour.

It has big shoulder pads and batwing sleeves. I love the colour more than anything else though.

Probably not hard to work out that I put in the orange panel (what a fabulous seamstress I am!) when this arrived via ebay and was super tight on my belly / thighs. I wasn't going to give it up because I love it, so I just made it fit!

I also quite like it when the tops undone, but it's so piggin' cold again that I'm glad of the high neck & double layers! I really didn't want to wear my little pixi boots with this but it is still to cold for courts, and I have to walk around lots today so no heels allowed. One day my diva posts will be able to include nice shoes!

Easter Sunday

Pah to the cold grey weather! The boyf' and I didn't get dressed until after 6pm, which is outrageous, but felt so so good today!

Today is a day for music, comedy and good food (which means I'm cooking!) so I fancied getting a bit girly!

The chicken is in the oven, and I'm about to get peeling. Nothing better than a roast on a Sunday!

This is one of my Queen of Holloway dresses. It has Parisian scenes all over it! The shoes and cardi are both from Primark.

So cute right?!

I had to do quite a lot of customisation on this particular dress (I've not had that problem with any of the other QOH dresses I have btw), as I couldn't do it up over my norks when it arrived, and I really couldn't part with it because I love the print so much! Basically I turned it back to front and expanded the bust using the lining. It was a very untidy job but it seems to have worked. It's now extremely low-cut but I don't mind!

I'm wearing my old lancom juicy crayon today - I'd forgotten how delicious they are! Don't often wear pale pink lippy but this one is so sheer that I love it.

Aztec Cowgirl

Low key Diva Friday admittedly, but to be honest the only reason I got dressed today was because I had to go and get some groceries!

Anyway, today felt like a denim day, but I didn't want to wear jeans, so here is the result...

I did that thing today where I washed my hair and then sat on my bed with a towel on my head until my hair was half dry. Therefore my fringe has parted in the middle and I look a bit odd!

 

I used a tinted moisturiser this morning because I couldn't be arsed with my normal routine.....

I now realise that it is too pale for me. Oh well, the flash sure does show all the bad stuff, but it's good to know!

Spread 'em!

Being realistic, I'm not going to keep the shirt done up today, because all I have planned is making a casserole followed by syrup sponge pudding, then eating it with my beloved while watching Eddie Murphy 'Raw' and choking with laughter.

 

So then, outfit details... The shirt is vintage - I'm selling something similar in my new permanent blog shop here!. The skirt and leggings are from Primark, and the boots are from Crocs, still available here (for half what I paid for 'em!) but only in a couple of sizes. Similar style here.

Just to finish up, I got some mega bargains from Primark (Marble Arch) yesterday. Work had the afternoon off so I wandered up to Primani on the way home to get another body (as I said in my previous post about the fringed body, they're excellent and I knew I had to have more than one!). Happily for me I got some real bargains! The body was on sale for £3! Happy Cass. I also got this super cute cardi reduced to £5, which has a kissing flamingo print on it. Chuffed because I've wanted a beige cardi with long sleeves for ages. The pink (glow-in-dark!) wellies were also reduced to £5. I always wanted some of the original Melissa ones (that these are copied from), but I've never spent more than a tenner on wellies in my life and I don't intend to start any time soon. I really recommend these to girls with massive calves like me, they are very generous round the ankle! The best thing though was the glitter jelly wedges. I saw these the last time I was in Primark but they only had small sizes and I was heart broken. Thank goodness they re-stocked because I love them! There is a very strong possibility that I will not wear them out and about much because peep-toes ALWAYS give me terrible blisters, but I'll wear them in the flat & when people come over or if I got to places that I know won't involve much walking! On the plus side they feel quite comfy when on, and the platform is so big that the actual heel tilt is only about 1.5 inches - perfect for girls like me who want some height but can't walk in proper heels! Anyway, they were £10 and they make me sickeningly happy, so totally worth the money in my view! You can actually get exactly the same pair from New Look here, but be warned, you'll pay double for 'em!
