Anna Scholz sale special

I know I shouldn't be buying dresses, but I couldn't risk missing out on my size in the dress I've been hankering after... and I thought 'in for a penny in for £179'... phew, my poor mastercard! The thing is, the postage is £7 from the Anna Scholz website and they don't offer free returns during their sale periods so it's financially sensible (in the long run) to order everything your interested in, in one go!

Sorry for my boyfriends legs (and pants!) in all these pictures, I didn't have the heart to chuck him out of the bedroom!

First up is the Daisy Dart Dress on sale for £53 (down from £175).
This dress is so cute. The fabric is so light-weight that I feel almost naked! I guess that means it would be perfect for this time of year. There is a bit of stretch to this dress, but I'm glad I ordered a 24 because it's quite snug on my belly & boobs. I missed out on the dress I really wanted in this fabric (which is what spurred this order on!) so I thought I'd try this one. I love the darts on the waist!
I don't normally buy grey dresses because I don't think the colour suits me, but in natural light this is quite a baby blue shade of grey, and it has hot pink flashes throughout, so I'm imagining it with bright pink lippy and my neon pink court shoes! They have this same dress in the black daisy print and a plain blue fabric. They're all lovely!
This dress was more pricey at £69 (down from £229) but it's the one I really wanted. It's so beautiful, I love the colours, and the smart casual feel of it. My best friend is going to go bonkers for this one!
It's a thicker fabric with lots of stretch. I got this in a 22 and it's actually pretty generous. I think I'd have fit the 20 easily as it's designed to be relaxed.
The belt pulls it in at the waist so it's a great fit. I actually quite liked it without the belt too! Really can't wait to wear this out and style it up!
Have I found a peplum dress that I actually like? I think I might have! This is the same lightweight fabric as the other daisy print dress, and it's the same pattern but with black daisy's and red flecks of colour. This is a size 24 which is pretty much perfect for me.
£57 down from £189. This will be perfect for work on hot days. Oh, and the neckline is fucking fabulous!

All these dresses are Black Label. I have a couple of white label dresses (both silk!) but I tend to feel like black label is more 'me', which is damned lucky because it's a bit cheaper than the white label!

Here are some of my favourites from the sale that I only just managed to resist....
I so want a yellow dress, and this one is heavenly!
This top is so fucking cool!
I love a clashing pattern, so this one was hard to resist!

Check out the full sale here, and let me know what you think of the dresses I bought!

The girl from Ipanema goes walking.....

When she walks, she's like a samba
That swings so cool and sways so gently
That when she passes
Each one she passes goes, ah.....

You may have realised this already, but I pretty much live in sandals / flip flops when it's hot, and my brand of choice is Ipanema 90% of the time! I thought it was about time I told you about them!
You may have seen Ipanemas before, Evans sold the straight-up flip flops for a while, (which I never got one with, personally I think they're a tad too heavy to wear without ankle straps!) and some of them are designed by the beautiful Gisele Bundchen. There are many reasons why I love Ipanema...

  1. They're wide enough for my stupid shaped feet!
  2. They look fabulous!
  3. They are so comfortable.
  4. The soles are thicker and firmer than regular flip flops so they last for ages without thinning (I've had my black and gold pair for about 4 years I think!)
  5. They are super-soft Melflex plastic, so they're washable!
  6. you can get lots of style that go round the ankle so they're safe for me to wear at work (or just in general life because I'm extremely clumsy!)
  7. They are bargainous!
This is my favourite Ipanema style, the cross-over toe & double ankle strap. I have these in two colours and they are the most comfortable and awesome sandals!
They come in so many colours & patterns. I love mine! My other Ipanemas are styles that are no longer available, but looking at the website for this post (probably a mistake!) I have found some AMAZING new styles. here are my favourites..... I WANT THEM ALL!

Ipanema Shine
 Ipanema Charm
 Ipanema Pharaoh
 Ipanema spring
Ipanema sunset

If you like the look of any of these I really recommend them! Visit the official Ipanema UK site here, with the sale prices they start at around £16-18!

Take it away Stan....

THIS IS NOT A SPONSORED POST! I paid for all 5 pairs of Ipanema's I own, I just wanted to tell you how much I love this brand and their comfy and colourful sandals!

Dresses (that I ordered ages ago!)

Before I checked my bank balance and realised that my rent comes out before I get paid (and I'm going to go over my overdraft this month because of this!) I had ordered a few dresses. I'm a knob, and I know I'm a knob, but not much I can do about it now! Here are my goodies.......
Awesome mosaic print dress, had to have it since I've been obsessing about the D&G mosaic print dress seen on Katy Perry at the met gala! I had to size up to the 26-28 (!) because the fabric is quite firm and not too stretchy.
Although it's advertised as a 'midi' you'd have to be very short for it actually to be considered a midi!
I'm selling the smaller size on my blog shop here, otherwise you can get it from AX Paris or a few sellers on ebay!

Kathryn from MissKathryn's Misstakes looked so lovely in her 'yours clothing bird print version of this dress that I had to go and take a look. I fell for this blue version with silver flowers.
I originally ordered the 22-24 only to find that it crushed my boobs terribly, so I had to size up to a 26-28! I can pull it in at the waist with the belt luckily, so it works fine. The only thing I don't like about this dress is the ridiculously small arm holes, even on this larger size I couldn't get it on without cutting the bottom of the arm holes (which I also did with the smaller size meaning that it couldn't be returned... DUH!). Nevermind, I'll do a bit of stitching and it'll be fine!
It has a wonderful full skirt! I'm selling the (only slightly butchered) smaller version on this dress on  my blog shop here, otherwise you can get it for £35 on the yours website.
The Mod cloth / Youtheary Khmer dress I got custom-fucked over arrived today. It's kind of cute, but I'm not overwhelmed by the quality or cut. I went for the biggest size and it's a good job I did... any smaller and I wouldn't have got into it! The problem for me is that the waist is so high and there's not stretch (it looks a bit different on the website!), but I like the colour so I'll have to make it work!
I don't actually like this black belt with it, but I just wanted to find my waist... I will have to try out some other belts to see what works! nice to have pockets though!
The bottom of the arms are really tight, so I'll have to do something about that! I'll work it out 'cause in principal this dress is delicious... just gotta get the styling right!

Red or dead

I'm really enjoying the romantic lady-like style at the moment. Summer is just such a fun time of year fashion-wise, I happily get dressed up as if I'm going to a wedding every other day! I got this dress from ebay, and I adore it!
I rocked a big old side bun today (using a hair doughnut) and red accessories. I often clash my cardi's with my dresses, but I generally feel that when it comes to red, more is more!
Red lips, red cardi, red ring! No blending into the background for me!
The dress has a lovely full skirt and is a heavy and silky fabric.
Dress - ebay
I'm sorry ladies, I just went to get the link and it's sold out! Just search for 'plus size red midi dress' in case someone else stocks it soon!

Ring - Zsiska

Getting arty again!

I got to go to another early morning viewing on Wednesday, at the fabulous Somerset house
It was a double whammy as I got to see the elBulli exhibition that has been advertised everywhere (it was interesting although not particularly attractive!) but it was the not-so-widely-advertised exhibition that I was interested in......
..... Miles Aldridge! I love his photography, it's odd and beautiful at the same time (this is Jessica Brown Findlay from Downton Abby, looking fantastic!). If you like the image above then I highly recommend this exhibition.
This being a plus size 'fashion' blog an' all, I should tell you what I wore to this lovely breakfast viewing! Okay so the shoes came off as soon as I got back to work and my flipflops went on, but if I wasn't such a massive pussy when it comes to wearing heels then this was my intended look for the day!
The joy of this Kaftan is that it can be sleeveless or elbow length with the help of a tiny button!

Wet look joggers - Primark
Sandals - Marks and Spencers
I have a little piece of Miles in my home now!

Get behind thee satan!

I just shouldn't look at clothes! There are always things I want, but I'm just not allowed new stuff at the moment.... I really need to curb my excessive spending!

Asos curve are always tempting me (the little devils!) but currently the stuff I like is pretty pricey... unusual for ASOS, but here are some wish-list pieces.
I'm desperate for a frock with an oriental print. Not sure what this shape will look like on me, but more oriental prints please curve!
I missed out on the black dungarees, and the denim ones looked a bit too hot for this time of year, but these floral ones are delicious!

As if my Anna Scholz (black / white label) wishlist isn't big enough, her line for Simply be has just hit me with more delicious (expensive) stuff!

JEWELS! Ahhhh this print is cool. Lovely dress!

This is the dress that I really want. It blew me away! I love the smudgy print, the arms, the shoulders, the deep-v neckline and the fact that it looks like it would be a good length on me (ie just below the knee).... I really think this may be the first peplum dress that floats my boat! No idea how I'm going to be able to afford it (it's £75... wah wah!), but I WANT THIS IN MY WARDROBE! My friend is getting married next year in a glorious west country converted barn, surrounded by beautiful countryside... I think this may be THE dress for her wedding!

Better get saving!

ootd's

I'm so behind with my ootd's on here! I've been wearing some summer faves recently, so I'm just chucking it all together on a night when it's not too hot to sit at my computer! There may be mosquitoes out there, but I do love having loads of big trees to look at!

Monday (Last week!)
This is a dress I break out when it gets hot. I love it! It's Anna Scholz and is one of the dresses I got with my £100 winnings from her blogs customer competition.
Close up you can see the print is made up of scarab beetles. And the colours! It's too cool for school frankly!

For Lunch we headed out to Grosvenor Square, where they are hosting 'summer in the square'.
There's free music and games and chill out zones. It's a lovely little sanctuary right in central London! It's on until the end of this week, so if you work round here go and get yourself an icecream and enjoy a bit of opera! Summer in the Square.

Dress - Anna Scholz Black label

Tuesday
I totally forgot to take a picture of me in my outfit, but I wore my lovely George Jumpsuit (with a lightweight blazer from new look. I looked mighty smart, honest!

Wednesday
Busy busy busy! Boiling hot day, so I opted for a super lightweight Asos Curve classic. It's the first dress I ever bought from Curve, and also therefore the first to be quite different from the pictures! Luckily in this case I'd been worried that the dress would be too short for me (it was well above the knee on the model!) but it's actually a midi, and I LOVE IT!
Me and my work mates went for some cider festival action after work, only to discover the pub with all the flyers / posters didn't actually have ANY of the advertised ciders (name and shame, BARLEY MOW!). Thats why we stumbled over this super cute raised garden...
I've worked in this area for 7 years, and I never knew about Brown Heart Gardens! Quite fascinating. I also tried the new blackberry & elderflower pimms... tastes like ice pops!
I left the ladies to meet the boyf in Wimbledon to eat lush food (at Bills - the prawn cocktail.... ummmmm!) and then watch Monsters University. I enjoyed it, the boyfriend was left a bit cold by it - but Monsters Inc is his favourite movie so it was never going to live up to the original was it?! Anyway, I was particularly taken with Wimbledons Morrisons. Awesome sauce!
Dress - Asos Curve
Flip flops - Ipanema

Thursday
Casual and loose.... Tired. An early night followed!

T-shirt - Asos Curve (available here in white)
Trousers - Dorothy Perkins

Friday
So then, I got this dress in the 24 remember? I didn't need to size up because it's made of a sort of jersey material, not a 'silky fabric' as Advertised! I started the day like this....
.... It wasn't long before I discarded the cardi thanks to the super hot weather! Nice dress huh? It's sort of an a-line swing dress (the description makes more sense if you read the standard sized version!)
When I left work for a meeting I pulled it in at the waist with the cardi. Love this dress like this! Sadly it's now sold out.

Dress - Asos Curve
Cardi - primark
Sandals - Ipanema

Saturday
The Lambeth Country show (a free festival put on by the council in the park next to me) was so much fun.
I completely forgot to take an outfit picture but you've seen me in this before anyways...
I wore another Anna Scholz Black label number!
We had food, drink (a slush puppy in my case because I like drinks made for children!), looked at some crafts and listened to some music. Lovely day!

Sunday (didn't get dressed!)

Monday
I love this Asos Curve dress, it's lightweight and cute, so I wore it again!
I also wore a plastic ankle bracelet..... I've had it for so long that I can't remember where it's from!

Tuesday... Today... We've caught up!
Getting my arms out has felt so good recently. It's too hot to cover everything up! I ended up with what I would describe as a 'romantic' look today. I guess the dress is pretty lady-like, but the bun took it into period film territory. Love it, I felt beautiful today, didn't care what anyone else thought!
Dress - China via Ebay!
Earrings - Forever 21
Sandals - Ipanema

This happened today (BASTARDS!) which means that my Mod Cloth dress is nearly with me. Fingers crossed it fits... I have no idea what to expect if I'm honest, the sizing made no damn sense! I actually have a few new things to show you, but I've had to re-order 2 dresses that didn't fit, so I'm waiting for their replacements before blogging about them!
